It was horrible... torn between so many things - a Kershaw Blur SG2... a Spyderco S30V... a Buck...

Well, I did it... on it's way to me - a Spyderco goodie... a Sharpmaker to sharpen my collection of butter knives! Nearly bought that SG2, but something told me - get the sharpening system - all those dull nives need it!

To pay for my near-transgression, I thanked Pete, the customer rep from Buck who returned my call from yesterday, and placed a 'phone order for a custom 110, sadly not due here until Sept 24 - I think he said this year. Also, another sad point, my paranoia in not putting a CC number on the web cost me - I had to pay for s&h, which you don't if you order from their site.... the 'voices' never mentioned that!

Of course, my wife won't 'know' about the custom 110 for a while... that sharpener doesn't really qualify for a CC charge (PayPal!)... I could order another 110AG from Cabela's...

John - aka 'Stainz'

('Stainz' is an Austrian meter guage 0-4-0 steam switcher used as the logo for my G-scale trains by LGB. I am a 59 yr young guy who plays with trains, guns, and knives!)

It's a small world, John. I just bought an SG2 Blur (one of 948) and am waiting for my Custom 110 as well. Trust me, you can't go wrong with either purchase.

i got a 2ed and the wife clamed it for her dad so i ....

2003 one case with holes
lots of them users..
thought i was in buck heaven
with almost all i could want ...

2007 balde show full table and a half with 4 full cases-
and 30 that would not fit...

it never ends ... does it?

The idea of Goose being articulated just seems wrong some how. He would need it to get around the tight turns through the Rockies though.:p

Stainz: I committed a Buck sin the other day as well.... was at the counter deciding between a regular Blur or a Sirus. Both were nice but I liked the AO on the Blur a lot better so I got the Blur. I have a feeling I'll be back for the Sirus....

I got an offer of $76 + $5 s/h for a new SG2 Blur - declined it and decided on the custom 110 - AND a Spyderco 'Sharpmaker' for $48.96 delivered - to sharpen my Kershaws... no one needs that many butter knives! I have a new and unused (... and not so sharp!) black/black Blur - and my oldie much-used Red one, which will cut butter well, if left outside (It set a record - 105 - yesterday.). My Scallion & Leek - and my wife's Chive - need help, too. Oddly, my most used and oldest Buck, a standard 110, is as sharp as my newest 110 - and will still, in it's never been sharpened (Okay - it has been stropped!) state, shave arm hair without blood loss. My old Blur - sharp again - wow, I can't wait! Who needs new steel - I thought it was already laminated, it was that nasty - gads!

BTW... is getting 'articulated' while traversing the Rockies a 'good' thing??

What a strange coincidence! Goose's wife often calls him "Big Boy", after the 4-8-8-4 Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive...:D

Actually, I think it is more for my affinity for cheeseburgers :)
Funny, I was just cutting a burger in half the other day with a BG-42.

As for the Rockies...this happened to me coming down the east side of 'em last year  http://mongoose.smugmug.com/photos/93709910-S-1.jpg

Well, Goose, looks like articulation might have saved some small embarrassment there. That’d make some bike wouldn’t it? The front wheel driven by one motor and the rear by another with a pivot between them. You could be the two wheeled Mickey Thompson.

Or an automatic kick-stand extender

There are actually two-wheel drive conversions for trail bikes; Cycle World had pics of them...one was a chain-drive setup; the other was hydraulic...

But the on-board jack idea is a good one...I know a guy who had to slide his Harley dresser about 50 yards one Winter, in order to find a curb to push against to stand it up... :(
