I was pulled over by the highway patrol.. my mind went on alert as I veered over, not criminal thoughts (how dare you) but more like aware thoughts......

Do I have my gun...

how bout my knife...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, there's a knife under the passenger seat.... hope he doesn't trip...

walked with a warning.... :D

this was last week, I've been meaning to get out the BK2 for some R&R since then, broke it out today and wahlaa.. Rust again...

yes your knife will 'rust' if you don't use it, I don't care what you put on it in terms of oil unless its creosene its gonna rust..

sorry about the pic as my camera wasn't user friendly today...

if I ever get a chance ...........ahh shine it, I'm going outside and gonna do some chopping and whittling later this evening to remove the rust.. and I may be tempted to touch this sucker up maybe even give it a scotch satin finish.. :D
hmm we'll see..

A month ago I was pulled over by the Highway Patrol, he asked if I had any weapons in the truck I said that I had a hunting knife in the door. (If he had me step out, he would have seen it anyway) He as the size and I said a LARGE knife. (It was my OKC SP10) He said "That's okay then". Gave me a warning because I have a clean record.

Apprantly OK cops are fine with large knives.

We're all just glad to hear that you're still alive and not the victim of abduction.

Thank God it wasn't a BK2 you just whipped out...he might of shot first and thought second and then stole your bad ass Becker. ;) :)

Wow thank god you didn't get capped by a sheeple. For some reason guns in a car is self defense but a knife in a car is on its way to a future crime scene. F-ing dumbness

The big deal in Canada (Ontario specifically) is concealment. I have the next gen Ka Bar, and a serrated TDI in my truck. But they're clipped very obviously to the back of my passenger seat, on an apron type contraption with a considerable amount of other tools. If I ever get asked during a ride check or whatever I tell him they're there, he can't go inside my truck without a warrant or my permission, though I have never have been given trouble. If he does I'll report him with misuse of force, get my Ka Bar back and then good luck to him ever getting off traffic. If they pass a legislation I'll just move to Alberta, or British Columbia.

in theory, once you say you have a weapon, that's just cause to then search you and/or your vehicle for the safety of the officer. at least in the USA.

then again, there's no just reason to BE asked such a question, and IANAL, but it's possible you don't have to answer (self incrimination)

in my state, i could have a trunk full of swords, and it's not big deal. we don't have length issues, and there's a difference between "stored" and concealed. oh, you only need a permit for a gun :> everything else, including switchblades are legal here. go kniferights.

Well at least he didn't 'confiscate' it.

Would you mind posting another pic of the spine? And, how does it feel/do in hand?

Knife laws are the same right across Canada. No different here in Alberta than Ontario.

If a Policeman pulls me over and asks if I have any weapons , I'll say "No , I do have a knife though. I use it for work in the bush."

Yea, that trap had crossed my mind. I'd say "No." but bring up the fact there is knives in the car. It's like the say your ABC's backwards thing. No one can do that. They are looking for you to say, "I couldn't even do that if I was sober." and then you have an admission to being drunk.

A legislation like that was attempted in Toronto, and can be put in place on the municipal/provincial level. My intention was in reference to that. I believe it's Montreal that has outlawed most knives. I'm aware the current law on knives is federal as is the same across Canada although I found that Albertans were more relaxed with the stigma on knives, also I'd like to live in every province for at least a year.

I am not real clear what you were worried about - I typically have 2 knives and a gun just on my person. Depending on the vehicle I am in, there will be more knives, pry bar, hammer, screwdrivers, etc etc etc.

In my world a man always wears a belt, a watch and carries a pocket knife.
