Forgot my EDC today, and now my knife OCD is coming out!

I recently got into the habit of EDC'ing a Peanut pattern. Not by Case but a lowly Colt Peanut, licensed and made by RR. I think I am going to order me that Case Peanut in G10 eventually. But anyhow it had worked out so well that I took out my secondary blade that was larger, a Case Sodbuster in my knapsack.

Well today I was in a rush and forgot to pocket the peanut and now I feel naked. Like I'm walking around the office "commando" with no undershorts. Then my knife OCD came out.... "No, knife in the pocket. 0 for 1, no knife in the bag, 0 for 2 today."

I had spent all this time rationalizing how I don't need to EDC a two knife system (small in the pocket, regular in the bag) and took the knife that I was carrying out of my bag.

But after today, I'm thinking I need to get that Soddie back into the knapsack asap! Lol.

Have you ever gone through a stupid moment day like this one, thinking about stupid knife situations? It's been 4 hours in the office and I haven't had a need for a knife whatsoever. I probably won't need to use a knife until I get home to cut my dinner. Yet somehow, I'm upset that I don't have a knife in my pocket.

Lol... Can't say that I have. I have forgotten my sunglasses (working in the desert on days sucks without eye protection), my lunch, actually even forgot my creds once, but never my knife. :D

I almost did that the other day... No knife in right pocket... no knife in left pocket... no knife in left sportcoat pocket... no knife in bag. Phew, still had the one in my overcoat pocket, oh, and on the keyring multitool. :D

I need more pockets.

Get one on your keys, that way its impossible to forget atleast one.

I now carry 2 in addition to the ladybug/manbug on my keys because the last time I forgot a knife (last may) I needed one for a [literal] life&death situation, I vowed to never again forget my knife after that and I also put one on my keys at that time (thankfully the situation turned out well in the end).

Moral of the story, do not forget your gear, you never know when it'll save yours or someone else's life (and/or be helpfull in a lesser situation)

Tak about feeling stupid? I have a victorinox classic on my keychain, a mini-grip and an opinel no7 in my bag, but for a minute i was in despair because i forgot my no8 at home and i finally had the occasion to cut the dry ends of a piece of cake with it this morning (i'm doing mods on the no7, so i didnt want to use it). I don't know if i should be worried :D

I have felt that sinking feeling when the realization hits that I forgot my knife. I mean, I always carry a Leatherman PS4 Squirt way at the bottom of my packet, but that barely qualifies as a knife. So about two years ago I placed a Spyderco Delica in each of my vehicles as an emergency backup. I've only had to use one of my 'Car' knives a couple of times, but it sure gives me piece of mind.

Talking about feeling naked without a knife, I have that feeling a couple of times a year. My wife and I take two cruises a year, and recent security regulations won't allow ANY knives, even my little PS4 Squirt to be brought on the ship. I go through withdrawal symptoms every time! When we get back to the car after the cruise, the knife usually goes back in the pocket before the luggage gets loaded.

I have a leatherman micra and Vic rally on my keys, but I still hate it when I forget my primary EDC. So I keep a spare in my backpack and 2 in the car. It's a pain to use those smaller knives so I got into the habbit of doing this.

As for the OP my suggestion buy another 1-2 backups and toss 1 in the car and another in the house or desk/locker at work.

I hear what everyone is saying. This is a other stupid ocd that I have. Im one of those minimalists in a stupid way. Meaning I will buy everything just to figure out what doesn't work for me so that I'm confident in what does and be able to do something minimally. Thus why I took the knife out if my desk and my bag. Leaving me with just the peanut which is a very good do all. I already have a ce strapped near the driver seat for emergency strap cutting and a mini grip bnib in the emergency toolbag.

I have been very keen to get a micra for my work knapsack after seeing so many forum members speak well of it. (I commute via train from the suburbs to NYC for work). I think the micra is the last piece of the puzzle for mmy basic edc kit.

Yes I have forgotten, drove me crazy. At least I still had my CCW, had the never bring a knife to a... covered. But you can't really shoot that unravelled thread from your shirt off now can you?

I now have several redundant back up knives, in the truck, my pack, etc.
