BM 705, Mini-Griptilian, or BM 705 Forum Knife!! :( I'm having to make due with a mini folder passed out by a former union president. You know the knives, 1.5 inch bendy blade, fingernail file, and useless scissors.

It's snowing. Have a meeting in 20 minutes Can't return home.

FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!! WHAT IF I HAVE TO CUT SOMETHING!?!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAA!!

Deeeeep breath...

Have a nice weekend.

so if you forgot ONE of them, shouldn't you have another one? if anything in the car or desk at work....

and you call yourself a knife knut.:p

Bruce,

Been there, done that, got a drawer full o' t shirts.
Some meditation may help...Imagine your happy place, the Benchmade Factory, surrounded by nice new pointy, sharp things. Lots of G-10, carbon fiber, and aluminum to fondle.
OMMMMMM...;)
Now, start the countdown to clocking out. It's T-minus 6 hrs. 27 minutes...

lol.. you just perfectly captured a strange sentiment we all share.

That's why you carry like, 8 knives! :D
You'll always remember one...
I usually carry a folder clipped to my pocket, and sometimes a Busse Shaker on my belt. If I forget those, my wallet has a Blackwood Credit Card knife. If I forget my wallet, my briefcase bag has a Spyderco Cricket and a DMKnives fixed blade. And a lansky dogbone for sharpening.
If I forget those, there's a Smith & Wesson rescue knife in the car for cutting seat belts and smashing windows. :)
Get a Spydercard, they're a bit heavy in the wallet, but they're always there when you need them!

After finding myself in Wal Mart without a knife and having to fight the temptation to go buy one, I decided to start building a collection of gear in the glove box of my car so I'm never without essential items. So far I have:

- Kershaw Vapor II
- Carriage (Cheap Timex) Analog Steel Band Watch
- Cheap Pair of Plastic Shades
- Brinkmann Legend LX

I need to throw a space pen in there somewhere, and that way I'll have at least the bare minimum of my EDC.

That won't help. I lock the door, walk downstairs, Bitteroot around my neck, Victorinox Ranger in my belt pouch, Mini-Champ in my right front pocket, Dodo in my notepad cover in the right cargo pocket, Mnandi in my left shirt pocket. Stop! Go back upstairs, get the ER Nemesis from the desk ...

NOW you're a knife knut. (Leave no blade behind.)

I forgot my one hand opener EDC of the day a few weeks ago. It usually rides clipped inside my right front pants pocket. I was on the freeway on my way to work, too late to turn around when I realized it wasn't there. I started to panic, but realized that I keep a Leatherman WAVE in my laptop case and I could get to it as soon as I got to the office and would at least have a blade accessible for the rest of the day.

When I finally got to the office, I took out my Palm that resides in my left front pants pocket. It was only then that I remembered that I carry a Victorinox Cybertool 29 in that pocket next to my Palm. I felt a bit foolish for having the small panic attack earlier. I felt even stupider once I realized that I also had my Micra in my right front pocket, and if I really needed it, the small blade on my AlMar cash clip.

So while I instantly felt bladeless because my EDC tactical folder was missing, I still had four out of five blades that I normally carry with me..;)

Naw, I think you guys are over reacting.
If Im not carrying a knife it means I probably lost it!

Two weeks ago I was snow shoeing up the Cooper spur on Mt Hood.
Woke up early and headed up along the ridge above the little ski area, had a friend with me and we were breaking trail for about 2 miles. Hoped to make the tree line but we were too low and after an hour and a half it was clear we were still a good way below the alpine zone.
As we hiked we got quite warm and were down to shirtsleeves and still hot.
I was seeing a lot of rabbit and squirrel tracks and began to wonder what type of predators would be around. Naturally with that thought I do a pocket check and damn it if Im not carrying a knife.
I knew I had it at camp so it had dissappeared along our hike.
My friend offered to turn around to find it but I figured we were making good time and if it was by the trail we'd find it on the way back just as well.
I side tracked to mark the spot where I noticed it was missing and dropped to my keys to see the effect of an object hitting the snow.
Shot staight through the 6 inches of new powder. Bummer.
We kept going for a time till we found a small summit and stopped for a break.
We kicked shoes into the drift and sat down to eat some Cliff bars.
I handed off my water bottle saying, "drink some of this so I don't have to carry it back down full."
And there hanging on the hem of the bottle bag was my beloved AFCK!
That really made my day, cause I wasn't sure we would be able to find it along the trail in the deep snow.
On the way back we found lots of folks had followed our trail up and it would have been impossible to find.
We figured it was a one in a hundred chance to catch the clip on the bottle in one sweep as I hooked it on my belt. Took me five or six tried to get it hooked on purpose.

So yeah, I feel a lttle silly if by chance I leave the house without a knife but most times if Im not carrying a knife it may be because I lost it!

Good! Because my next suggestion was gonna be ... leave that dangerous water bottle home!

Jon, as long as you're supplying a glove box, add a small multi-tool or vise grip.

I keep meaning to get a Leatherman Juice to go in there as well.

My criteria so far has been inexpensive but reliable, and I think the Juice will fit in to that plan.

Crash, the Juice will do it. I was uncertain of them myself, since the blades don't lock, but I got the big Purple one for my nephew, and the blades do snap into place nicely, like a good slipjoint. You could probably get by with something smaller, like the Orange, which I guess has pliers, screwdrivers, and a can/bottle opener.
