Forgot the neck - redo or keep?

I made a brainfart and forgot to put a neck on a kitchen knife that I’m modifying. Does it need a neck - do I need to redo it - or can I continue with it without a neck?

When you say "neck" are you referring to a ricasso (flat area between handle & cutting edge)?

If so, not all knives have a ricasso. Thus, you can continue without a ricasso or rework the project & include one. Your choice.

Do you have a picture of the knife after modification?

Yep, I meant the ricasso.

Here's what it came out as when finished. As I put a sizable taper to the ferrule I think it works without a neck/ricasso, especially considering the large size of the knife and its balance point: Large chef's knife (resto-mod)
