Hello CRK sub-forumites, Petey2.1 here-- my screen name is in honor of Petey
, my first dog back when I was a wee lad...my real name's Ron...
I live in Tennessee and enjoy hiking, jogging <I don't RUN anymore unless a bear is after me>
, bike riding, reading, and watching documentaries and old Westerns.
Anyways, I've lurked BF for a long time before becoming a paid member a while back.
EVERYONE, I've met, traded with, bought from, and sold to here have ALL been TOP DRAWER FOLKS!
I hang out mostly over at the Busse subforum and check in occasionally @ Spyderco.
I've guerrilla posted a couple times here, but it struck me tonite as I was taking down my Umnumzaan that I needed to speak up more extensively...
I was reading here a couple nites back how a brother was appreciative of how CRK's are designed to be taken apart. Seeing how I've always been a do your own oil change kind of guy...well, CRK is a natural progression considering how I have been collecting blades even before I did my first tune up on a 76 Gran Prix. So I, too, LOVE taking down my knives-- even if that means voiding a factory warranty-- I'm looking at you Spyderco!
So here's the extent of my CRK's <all bought here from great members> in order of acquisition top to bottom.
I Scotch-Brite'd the 'Zaans and was over the moon with the way they look with the contrast of satin/matte & brite/dull. I love the look of satin Titanium and it gets even better when it gets dinged up, IMHO, a little bit like the WC .
The 25 is the most solid, refined frame lock I've ever dreamed of and the point + high hollow grind is most useful to me!
The Ti-Lock, well I always wanted one, but I'm probably gonna put her up on the Exchange to find a "Forever Home" with someone else here soon. She's great and I love choils, but it won't get any use with the Worker & the 2 Big Boss's around!
On to the pics!
Old Pivot Zaan gettin the treatment-- pretty dramatic when you see em side by side, right?
The simple materials <beside the prerequisite CRK tools> that got the job done:
