Hello my name is Greg and I'm a bladeoholic. I'm somewhat new to these boards so i figured I would introduce myself. I began collecting knives when I was young. I distinctly remember my parents not letting me take my knives to my 3rd grade show and tell class. I now understand why. Made no sense at the time though. I am my no means a serious collector. I even went through a faze where i liked fantasy knives. I do own a Gil Hibben or two. Don't laugh i was young. I mostly like folders, however trolling these boards has made me start looking at fixed blades in a whole new light. Can you say Busse? I have no expensive blades, and I try to use every knife I own. My EDC is a Kershaw leek, but my favorite is my Case Tri-Fold. I plan on designing a Gents knife based on the tri fold, but that is another story all together. I have learned a ton on these pages and I plan on spending plenty of time here learning even more. Because i feel like a total noob compared to lots of the people here.

Here are a few of my knives, hope the pics aren't too big.

-Case Tri-fold
-Boker Delta
-Benchmade 722s
-Benchmade 705
-Benchmade EMERSON Spec War CQC7
-Kershaw Leek AO(black finish w/gold clip and screws)
-Kershaw E.T.
-Emerson Police Sark
-Spyderco Pro Venator
-Finnish Puukko

Thanks for looking, and I'm happy to be here.

Welcome!

I've also been "accumulating" since I was a kid, and still have almost every knife I've ever owned (although most of mine are in unused condition).

The only knife that we have in common is that Case Tri-Fold (I do have knives by Spyderco, Benchmade, Boker, and Kerhsaw, but not the same models as you). Interesting design, and it just might be a starter-design for a higher quality gentleman's knife, as you've suggested. Don't worry, I won't steal your idea. :) I was wondering about the Tri-Fold just yesterday as I was browsing through my accumulation, wondering if it has any collectors' value. I don't think they're made any longer, but I doubt they're of much interest to Case collectors.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

Bob, while you may have almost every knife you have ever owned, I've lost more then i currently own.

In reguards to the Tri fold, i've loved this design for years. Why i don't see more of these is beyond me. Yes the one we own is a cheap plastic knife, but with a flick of the wrist i can open and close it faster than an auto. Slight exaggeration, but i can do it really fast. If it were done with a damascus blade, real nice liner, some kind of exotic handle, smooth as silk action, file worked, etc..you could have one hell of a knife on your hands.

The difference is probably the fact that you carry yours. :) My slogan, "To carry a knife is to lose a knife." I have no idea how many Opinels I've left out in the forest/desert, but at those prices I'm not motivated to keep track. :)

I do think a higher-quality Tri-Fold would be interesting. But to have something like that custom made would be way out of my price range. And there are probably patent issues to overcome, especially if manufacturing on a commercial scale.

Good point Bob, i hadn't considered that it might be patented. Even if it is, I will still try to have a high quality custom made for me. And who knows, maybe i'll even make one myself. I can't think of a better way to spend my retirement than bladesmithing. Its a long way off, but thats the plan for now.

Welcome to the forums! :)

I've got one of those Tri-Folds, too, and I kicked myself when I let them go out of production without picking up a few more. They were cheap enough!

Cold Steel has a series of Triple Action folders with the same design, but I've heard the aluminaum doesn't hold up well to flipping them open.
