Eh.....that title sounds sorta funny, but the best I could word it. At any rate, I was not an owner of a Spyderco for 10+ years (exception was a Tenacious for a couple months). Even then I did not own but a couple of them. I don't know if it was the designs, or the lite weight of them, or the clip placement on many of them, but probably a combo of all three. This was not Spyderco's fault, and this is not a bash on Spyderco. Just look at my title....FORMER! I am just a bit anal about the weight of the knife and am one of those people who equate a heavier weight with quality. Of course with todays lite weight materials, that are as strong as yesterdays heavier materials, this premise doesn't hold as true as it may have at one point. But when it is a reputable company and the knife has some weight to it, then you will have quality. I know this probably sounds strange, but at my age, 55, I am set in my ways, and see no need to change!:D

Enough meandering though. I have now become an owner of 2 Spyderco's, with a third one on order. All 3 of these are some of Spyderco's heavier offerings and I love the designs on all three! The Perrin PPT is 5+ ounces, as is the titanium Military (the one on order), but the one that takes the cake for me, and is today's carry, is my Vallotton Sub-Hilt. This knife is heavy (6.2 ounces) and definately a QUALITY piece of cutlery, just as the other two are.

I've been carrying a Lion Steel titanium SR-1V for a couple of weeks now and absolutely love the knife, and am giving some serious thought to the purchase of a titanium bronze model. I really, really like the SR-1. But everyday I put it in my pocket, I always hesitate, because the Vallotton is right there next to it, and I swear I can hear it saying, "take me, take me, I won't let you down"!:D So yesterday morning I could bear it no more. I put the Vallotton in my right front pocket and everything felt right in the world, just as it does today with it in my pocket.

I've posted about the Vallotton several times, and nothing about it has changed. It is one of the best fit/finish knives I've ever bought, it matches up to my John W Smith folder, and that is saying something! The only gripe I had was the clip as I prefer the foldover, deep carry type, that allows the entire knife to go inside your pocket, but easily took care of that with a foldover clip from USAknifemaker.com. Now it is perfect in my eye's. As I said before, Sal has certaintly found some excellent craftsmen in Taichung, Tawain!!:)

I'm definately pleased with the two I have and think I will be equally impressed with the ti Military as well.:)

Indeed it is! As I said before, the two I have are as well built, if not better, than some custom folders. The better than part would reference to the modern,up to date machinery being used and how well it can get tolerances as close as they are.

The Vallotton is the most impressive factory knife I've seen in a while. It is equal to the Lion Steel SR-1V I have. The sub-hilt bolsters are amazing with the perfect fit they have, and the way the pocket was made at the front of the bolster to allow the opening studs to fit down into them is another little thing I like about this knife, and it just bespeaks of quality to me.

Make me some more knives like the two I have Spyderco, and I'll a convert!

The Manix 2 has a nice heft to it. If I were you, I consider throwing down another 75 dollars for one. It is a pretty nice knife.

you have a good taste in knives my friend :)
The Valloton is a beautie to the eye (would love to have one), but the mili fits better in my pockets.
