forming a primary grind

I'm in the process of making my first knife, I have cut the blade out from the bar stock and now I need to put the primary grind on it. I am working with hand tools only, files, sandpaper, and hacksaw. I do have an edge pro and a grinder with a 3" wheel. I have been trying to figure out how to put a consistent and accurate primary grind on it. Anybody have any tips for this? Thanks for any input.

slowly with the files. look into making or buying a file guide as well.

Look for some video of proper file technique, this will help alot. But you will need to get to work and see what issues come up, we all have different abilities.

I just did one by draw filing - no guides or anything, and it is almost the same on both sides. I completely agree with Patrick that you just need to start by draw filing (YouTube is your friend if you don't know what that is), and see how that works out for you. I am a complete novice as well, but after a lot of hours, mine has turned out ok so far.
