I came across a (looks like) brand new forschner by Victorinox. I think it's about 8in. And looks brand new no chips or wear on edge. Is this a decent chefs knife for $2.99? Thanks I'm new to blades but really enjoy a good kitchen knife.

Yes is is a great (chef's?? Is that what it is?) knife at full retail. The plastic handles are actually the best. No frills all skills with Victorinox kitchen cutlery.
I have 5 of their paring knives!

What? $2.99? Definitely buy it.

It's probably the highest regarded value priced kitchen knives in terms of reviews and comments I've read here on BF and throughout the web. Search for discussions here or Amazon reviews. It's typically around $30 for the 8 inch Chef's knife. For that price, it's worthit You're getting it basically for free at $2.99.

Yes, that's a good deal, and before you ask, that other $3 you were going to spend on a cup of coffee and some gum is also fine.

No brainer. I've found some incredible deals at my local Goodwill on kitchen cutlery and gadgets, most BNIB condition. My friend picked up a Vitamix for ten bucks and all it was missing was an easily replaced top!

The review sites and my own eyes confirmed that the victor inbox was worth taking home. The same Goodwill had a Kai 240/1000 stone sharpener so I imagine there will be some quality time spent throughout this forum. Thanks again for the info.
