Did my first solo over nighter last night. Went to Fort Mtn State Park in North GA.

There was no easy access to good firewood but I managed to get a decent pile of forearm thick Hickory.
I had to cut the dead standing tree(s) down haul them over to my campsite and cut 'em to size. The pile got about 10x bigger before I was finished.

Drying cotton - lol

Friends for a day

Is this a lone chanterelle ??

found this cool pine burl I took home to put on the shelf

First night this deep in the woods by myself.

I survived the night and went to the local coffee spot in the morning!

Awesome!
I seriously daydream about camping by myself for a few days.
I can almost 'hear' the silence... ;)

That's pretty cool! Did you do an actual campsite or ninja camp? How far of a hike in? Only asking because I'm in GA as well and always like to check out new places.

Looks like a good time. There is not much that can beat a night in the woods! I regularly go out alone for multi-day/week endeavors, but they are focused on hiking longer distances(30-ish Km a day/100+ Km total). Being alone in the wild is a great way to reset the brain and empty the head. Life is so much simpler, albeit more work.
Just last weekend i spent a few days in the woods with friends on a scouting summer camp doing utilitarian/supportive tasks.

Is that the sven saw? Looking for a saw to add to my armory, my Silky 210mm is a bit short for everything thicker than 3 inches.

yea that is the 15'' sven saw - it is a great saw and I have cut up to 8'' thick pieces and had room for more.

I booked a campsite - $10 a day can't beat that. The loop trail I camped on was 8 miles around and I was about 1/2 mile in the woods away from anything at the campsite.

I live about 25 minutes South of there. Hiked most of the trails, but I've never camped there. Might have to do that come Fall.

You're at a state park so you probably have to camp in the designated location. But when camping in undeveloped areas (Forest Service, BLM, etc.), I always camp far enough away from trails and roads so as to not be visible to other people. Not only is it for my own protection and privacy, but it's common outdoor etiquette as well, a courtesy to other hikers so they don't feel like they're walking through my campsite.

With a few solo nights of state parks, campgrounds, and designated campsites, you'll be tackling wilderness areas on your own next. :)
