My wife just gave me a slightly early Christmas present---a Fortis Spacematic Chronograph with black leather strap. Anyone here with a Fortis please share your experiences. I've always worn quartz watches and this is my first mechanical watch in a very long time.

Fortis is an under rated watch brand. I have two and they have proven themselves to be very good watches at a bargain price.

The straight case sides of the Spacematic models make them seem larger then they truly are to my eyes but, they wear well.

When you consider what many people pay for Sekio and similar models at department stores and other mass merchandisers, it makes you wonder why they didn't look around a little to see what else is out there. Granted, Fortis doesn't get the splash of Rolex or Breitling and, they may not use the most expensive movements, they still make a damn good watch full of quality at a bargain price compared to the competition.

Current owner of 2, soon to be 3,
Sid

grnamin; congrats, the Spacematic is a great watch.
I have had my own basic Fortis Pilot Automatic for around four years now and it's my most worn watch!
Great price and the workmanship is extremely good - especially compared to the very modest price.
The movements are all basic ETA 2824-2, 2892-2 (in some cases) and Valjoux 7750 for the chronograph.
Sturdy, good value for money and accurate.

I've got a Fortis chrono with the Lemania 5100 movement and love it. It's an underappreciated brand, for sure, none of the marketplace sizzle of the Sinn or the Tutima, to which I often compare models.
