Not long after joining BF, I was given a knife to give to one of my big brothers. It still comes up in conversation.

Nice Kutmaster. :)
I especially like the covers. There was a Purina plant in my home town. I never worked there, though.

They used to give those to farmers as incentives or rewards for using their feed products. Used to be pretty common here in the land of flat.
Thanks, Neal

Great story Leghog reaching out with a gift for a members brother shows just how generous the folks here are and it's a nice knife too. I really like the old advertising knives they remind the way the USA used to be. These days we have become so "politically correct" and with the fear of potential litigation that giving away a knife as an advertising ploy brings they are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Pretty much.
They still give away those horrible Chinese Vic classic knockoffs, but even that is becoming a thing of the past.

This forum really is a great place, I hadn't been a member for too long before r8shell gifted me an old imperial Barlow which really got me into traditionals, and I still love and carry that knife often.

I have had a couple of those Kutmaster pens over the years, they are nice little knives!

That's a medium stockman isn't leghog? It's in such good shape and that's an unusual pattern for them as I used to always see the pen knives and jack knives not the stockmans so much. I'm still waitin' to come across one where the celluloid hasn't began it's decomposition and outgassing. It's a double edged sword, they are still collectible but they can ruin a collection between inspections and they will all inevitably just like the Brownie knives destroy themselves.

Someday I'll find one still in decent shape at a flea market or yard sale for a couple of $

Great people on the porch, it's knice to see the old guys from back in the early days still kickin' around and it's great to see the younger new folks comin' in with so much love for the hobby and the community in general. It's them that'll carry the torch long after my collection gets brown back into the collectin' community.
