You guys may recall from the 'nutty' thread that LT warned me a box was heading my way. And it has arrived. He's made a contribution, so it's no longer just a knife, it's a knife and SCHRADE STUFF!

With every one of the first twenty knives, you'll get: KeyChain, MoneyClip, HatPin, and something I find the coolest... He included some of the bronze/brass replicas (as were offered by Schrade with a knife, usually in wood boxes) of Conservation Stamps. There is a 1999 Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamp and a neat 1996 Quail Conservation Stamp. You get both!!

I pick up the official Prototype and the first of our special issue (1 of 27) from the engravers tomorrow. I will inspect them, see what I think, and if they are acceptable to me, I'll show them to a couple of you who have helped me. If they pass muster, they will be sent off Monday. The recipients can tell us all what they think.

Thanks, thanks LT. Thanks, Thanks to you other guys for the great emails of encouragement you've sent to me.

More stuff on the way I have more of the original stuff if you need it. I prefer a 3 rd gen version knife if I have my druthers but what ever is fine.. I included some money. So where is my knife already? PS you are in charge do not show your choices to me or ask my opinion I am simply in a small way supply & support. Your judgment will be fine with me. Oh yes and Thankyou as well. That being said I respectfully suggest motivate motivate motivate. Whoops I am lapsing to a previous time in my life. LT

Rich, I don't see it as a lapse, but rather a continuation of the motivation and education you have shared with us. Yes, doubtless it is carried over from your former professional life. And a fine attribute it is. We should all asprire to such "lapses".

MORE stuff LT! Your great! And yep, I have you on the list for a 3rd gen, if you are going to be so damn picky. As a matter of fact, it is the forum knife 'Prototype'. Just who the hell else here deserves it more?

Getting lots of inquiries, guys. Let me know.

Phil

Wow, thats very generous. The Schrade "stuff" is almost as cool as the knives. Thank you!

Thank YOU for not only working so hard on this project, but also for once again bringing to the fore what had been to me an obscure set of knives. It finally dawned on me last night why those stainless Schrades were so familiar, though I could not place them.

In the post war years, my Father joined my Grandfather on his Arkansas Missisippi River Delta farm. We lived in an "evolved" farmhouse that began as a pre-Civil War cypress board "shotgun" house. That is three rooms side by side, and with the front and back doors open, you could fire a shotgun through it without hitting anything. Our main crop was cotton. As was the habit of the returning GI's, Dad just had to make things better for his family than what he had. The house grew with enclosed porches and even an inside bathroom! But the local cotton gin was owned and operated by a "company town". The owner of the gin also owned the town. Stores, bank, park, houses, ice plant, everything. It was the huge R.E.L. Wilson plantation, now Wilson, Arkansas. Dad, Grandpa, and their closest friends did the unthinkable. They formed their own cooperative and started the Chelford Gin Co-op. Dad, using his Navy skills, was the machinist and maintenance guy, and basically ran the operation besides managing his own farm. I worked there in the late '60's and, Mom worked there as far back as I could remember. The gin was old and machinery outdated by the time I left there and it closed sometime in the mid to late eighties, torn down and sold for scrap.

Where this rambling thing is headed is here: At some time before his death in '89, Dad had some stainless knives engraved "Chelford Gin Company". There is still one somewhere at my Mom's house. I'll post it if I find it.

And thanks again for being such a dedicated forum member Phil.

How do I get included in this?

I've been collectin' Schrades since I was 15,(I'll be 45 tomorrow), I edc a Schrade Tennessee River Thrapper with Amber Jigged bone scales.

I picked the first two up today guys, and I was very, very pleased. The Prototype is on the way to LT right now, and the other (2005 marked) is heading to Larry. I trust they will post their impressions when they receive.

Here is Larry's knife, I am sending him the first one as he had the original idea and has been so supportive of me. It's laying on a bed of those way cool 'USA' beaded peices that came in the mail today, courtesy LT. I'll also show another pic of the piece laying on an LB sized sheath, what they were made for. But I expect most of you will be more creative than just gluing it on. Put it on your hat, in your display case, or make a vest out of them! Whooops.. that last has been done. Anyway, I'll start packaging things up, remember with every knife there will be a keychain, money clip, two bronze conversation stamps, a beaded peice and a hat pin.

The first batch of ten knives were left at the engravers today. Ready in about a week. The first seven of those will be 3rd Generations, the rest after that will all be the SS627. I think that will be enough for everyone so far signed up. The entire run of thirty would cost about $1200 to engrave, so were are going slow. I will do another run of ten as interest builds .

T. Erdelyi, send me an email, my address is in my profile.

ps... that isn't rust, it is 20 year old grease I was too lazy to clean off.

Very nice Phil, and thank you LT for your generosity.

Both of your efforts and contributions to this project, and the forum in general, are greatly appreciated.

Bill

Glad you got it, LT and hope you like it. Hey, sorry but I forgot to include all the extras in your package! Sorry!

ok, time now to see about changing the name of the place.

Phil

My package arrived today with the B.F. 2005 SS627 3rd Gen knife and I got all the extra's. As you all know by now, I really love this pattern of knife and am really torn if I should carry this engraved little beauty or not. I am going to post a pict later with all the extras and then put the knife in my pocket for a few days. A few days later and it just may change to my edc.
Phil, you dun good!
Thanks,
Larry
If the rest of these knives are as well done as this one, you will want one too!

AW you cannot see the pin or the 100 year money clip. Who is in charge of advertising quality control. By the way while I am being overbearing on a personal note could I ask if you did the SS thing?

Thanks for posting Larry. Glad again that you are happy. Yep, the advertising department needs a shakeup, LT! But he did show the all-important 'certificate of authenticity'. God help me, I am turning into Jim Parker. Anyway, I pick up the first full batch of 10 at the engraver's tomorrow, will try to get a couple of them into the mail this weekend.

I'm drawing a blank, LT... What SS?

Bill and Glenn, thank you very much for the kind words. I'll start work immediately on the 2006 knife.

Regards to all,
Phil
