I loooove that new model!! I've modded a No.10 and No.12 to a blade and handle profile very similar to that, and I think it's a big improvement over the already excellent standard Opinel shape. Too bad the de Jardin is onoly available in a No.8 size.

I dunno, 500 is a lot of units. Think you can get 500 BFers to both agree on a design, AND cough up the dough for one? :D
 
You have to go to the site and then click on the headers he indicates. Really nice variety of designs. I like the first knife in the outils de jardins, a spearpoint with the efile handle.

You think you could get 500 people here to agree on anything? :D

I don't think 5 forum members would agree on anything let alone 500. Be that as it may all we need is 50 members to take 10 pieces each. I will buy 10 myself. That leaves 49.

The Opinel N 08 is the most popular model per my understanding. People like them. My guess is that you could sell, gift or trade theses knives easily. Why not a Lance Armstrong theme with his approval and some $ to his foundation?

Maybe the Statue of Liberty laser etched into the dark walnut handle. A nice American/French theme. Some images might not display well against the brown and black walnut handle. But I don't know that for sure. I wonder if and at what cost the walnut handle could be substituted for the beech handle?

Here is a copy of email sent to Nadine @ Opinel:

"I like the Couteau De Jardin style. I like the walnut handle. I like Sandvik 12C27 stainless blade steel. For your offer of personalization: can you put walnut handles on the Couteau De Jardin using only Sandvik 12C27 blade steel? Can the knife I have just described be made in any other size, other than N 08? Can "Sandvik 12C27" be laser etched into the blade below the word "INOX" and sideways (like the positioning of the word "INOX") on the blade, or maybe on the reverse side of the blade?"

Looks like Opinel cannot do all of the mods (Garden knife with walnut handle, blade engraved Sandvik 12C27) I desire for a forum knife, not to mention that forum interest didn't leave the starting gate. Guess that this means no Opinel with a tanto styled blade, dang it (insert foot stomp/dirt kick)! Received this from Opinel this AM:

I think if you ask on the european community forum, we'll be glad to help you in the process of dealing with the Opinel company ;)
 
I just sent an e-mail to Nadine Buisson in french, I know that usually some modifications can be done to some models for a number as low as 100 pieces, so let's see what will happen ;)

A special BFC logo for the knife would be nice as well, time to show your talents, mates! :cool:
