My forum knife arrived yesterday and it's already in the gun safe.
We Schradenuts sure owe a lot to Tom Giorgianni for making this happen, and to his father for being willing to perform his artistry for such a scruffy bunch like us!! :D
Now,what are the recommended methods for treating these fine keepsakes and keeping them in their current condition? Both the steel and scrimshawed scales?

The most important piece of advise is, if you touch any portion of the metal with your hands, the acids on your skin over time will etch into the metal. The best thing to do is to keep a thin coat of oil or WD-40 on the metal parts. As for the scrimshaw, do not use any abrasive cleaner that might scratch the delrin covers. Also, keep celluloid handled knives away from the forum knife and any other knives as the celluloid releases fumes that are acidic and will most definitely damage your knives over time.
I am sure others will chime in and give more advice.

Thanks,Tom!
Will oil affect the Delrin scales,if I get too generous or if it "creeps"?
I use Kroil a good bit on guns as it's known for "creep",but I don't use it on knives.
I've also seen some recommend waxing a knife for long-term storage.

Hi...You can use any acid free oil to keep your knives in good condition. I have noticed some oils become tacky after awile so look out for that. I use WD40 on my knives with good results. Remember, keep knives away from cellouid handled knives.
