Today the Fiddleback Forge forum here on Bladeforums hit the 100,000 post milestone. Also the Flea Market is nearing the 1,000,000 view mark. I think those two milestones speak volumes about the community that’s been built up around the Forge.

It’s not only because of the really cool designs Andy comes up with
or that they’re the sexiest knives around with the spalted steel and gorgeous handles
or how comfortable they are to use
or how well the guys at the Forge build these tools with the great fit and finish
or how they treat their customers, going above and beyond
or the dealers they have that interact with us directly here.

It’s all those things of course.

But it’s also because of the kick ass users that love these tools and these guys so much that we’ll hang out here and stalk the forum trying to shark the latest and greatest on Friday
or snag one from the clutches of another shark in the Flea Market
and point out when new ones show up at the dealers (after sharking one for ourselves first of course)
and post reviews of these sweet tools in use in the woods, in the kitchen, and at work
and share pictures of our Fiddlebacks in incredible scenic locations, or with really yummy food, or with the Saturday night beverage of choice, or even just on some rocks
and that care enough about each other to have a community center and even to share our favorite music with each other.

I for one am happy to have found Fiddleback Forge a few years ago, not just for the tools and the guys at the forge, but for all of you Fiddlebackers as well.

Thanks for making this a home away from home.

It's a special place and company, no where or anyone really quite like it.

Amen! I've been coming here since 2009, mostly as a lurker and with a long hiatus while I was in College... girls and video games and such... but it's been cool to see Andy and the crew at the Forge develop into what they are today. If I had been smarter and had more monetary freedom back in 2009 I would have bought one of those knives, but I didn't, I just got to enjoy looking at them and longing after them. Now, I do have some extra funds and have started the process of finding my perfect Fiddleback knives.

Cheers to that and great summary thurin....i am not a long term guy here but I am sure i will see another couple thousand posts go by on my screen.

A fitting tribute Thurin to a very special place & a fine group of folks......cheers to all !

So humbled, and happy, to have found this forum. What a great group of people.

Wow! Looking at the post count numbers always shocks me. You guys made that happen. I can't say thank you enough.

I've been lurking in the shadows since this past summer. The folks here have been excellent at answering any questions, as well as being extremely polite and a joy to be around.

Then there is these magnificent tools made with pride. Andy, a person can tell you do what you love, and love what you do. Your pride shows through in your work, and it looks fantastic. Great work.

You guys may know McVeyMac, if not your missing a great opportunity to meet a very good man. After some discussions with him he helped me pick a hiking buddy pattern and told me good luck. I got a used (I don't know if I could bring my self to use some of these master pieces) hiking buddy about a week and half ago. I'll be on my way home to see this beauty today and can't wait. Anticipation is killing me.

Thanks to all the sharks that helped me get my foot in the water, now let's hope I don't drown.

Well said and great catch of the milestone Nathan! The props about Andy's knives and the community have always been the hallmark of the whole Fiddleback experience as far as I can remember (for example my post from wow over 1.5 years ago now :) - that's a long time in internet years)

Owning a Fiddleback knife isn’t a mere, cold exchange of goods and payment. It is a unique and wonderful EXPERIENCE that continues to give well beyond the initial transaction.

When you first behold a Fiddleback in person, you’re struck by its BEAUTY. The combination of matching and contrasting colors, attractive lines, exotic & countless scales, and the signature bull’s eye lanyard hole are harmonized into the art that is Fiddleback.

After such encounter, one wills himself to use this treasure, from which he’s greeted with its superior FUNCTIONALITY. Comfortable handles and efficient blade geometry are the shining features of these lean and mean machines. The handles naturally index to the comfort of one’s hand, and there are plenty of task specific, yet versatile blade profiles to choose from to satisfy all indoor and outdoor needs. My personal favorite is also my first, the Bushcrafter. Beyond its beauty lies a comfy, well thought out handle, and a blade profile that is jack of all trades. Its robust, near centered tip; ample belly and height; and of course the efficient and robust convex grind excel in just about all bushcraft tasks (including food prep).

But Andy Roy, the knifemaker, isn’t the complacent sort. Andy continues challenging himself and the crew to IMPROVE their execution, and to develop new INNOVATIVE designs.

Could anyone really ask for more than that? Well you got it anyways! Something that goes beyond the aforementioned tangibles: COMMUNITY. Regardless of whether you own a “Fiddie” or not, once you join Andy’s sub on the BladeForums, you’re welcomed into the community of friendly, generous Fiddleback lovers, where Andy himself and the crew are engaged like they’re one of the gang.

Oh, and did I mention that they are made in the USA? Boom.

Thanks for your very thoughtful post Nathan. The Fiddleback team has reason to celebrate reaching such a significant milestone on this forum. It has been fun to be along for part of the ride. I have a feeling that the 2,000,000 milestone will come about a lot faster.

Phil
