So I just won an Emerson CQC-7 Kerambit last weekend from Slaytanic and I have a quick question. I have been carrying the new knife for the past 3 days or so and although it is a nice knife, I am a Benchmade fan and I am not going to carry this knife over my 943.

My question is would it be wrong to try and sell or trade this knife seeing how I didn't actually pay for it, I won it? This knife was put up by a forumite for another forumite to win and use and if I am not going to use it is it OK to get rid of it and possibly make money on it.

Or, instead of selling it would it be more appropriate to just put it back up in a giveaway for someone else to win.

Let me know what you think, is it OK to sell or trade, or give it away to another forumite?

I guess I am just looking for opinions on what everyone else would do
 
You don't put it up for sale. You should not have entered the contest if you didn't want the blade. Give it to someone who could use it.
 
I think it is yours and if you want to sell it you should be able to do so with little care or worry about what anyone else thinks. People sign up for raffles everyday for cars and boats and other things they would never buy themselves and many times sell them before they even drive them. Sometimes they sell it back to the dealer that did the raffle in fact.

If it makes you feel better donate it to one of our troop platoons over in Iraq and let them raffle it off to a lucky soldier. Take it as a tax write off or something.

You could also offer it for trade for something you would rather have in your pocket. Maybe a guy that entered the same contest and really wanted that knife is out there that has a BenchMade he would gladly trade you for it.

Why shouldn't I have entered the contest, I have never owned a kerambit before and I didn't know if I didn't want the knife. Now that I have had it, it is not my cup of tea, I don't see what the problem is. I am simply looking for opinions on what you guys would do in this situation.
 
It's yours to do with as you want. If you can find someone else who wants it, and has cash or something you want, go ahead.

It's your knife to do with as you wish. Sell or trade it for something you really want.

I wouldn't sell it, but trading it off would be an option. Or, you could just donate it to a Joe.
 
IMHO, it's yours, boobar. You won the raffle (damnit, ;) ) fair and square. You've tried it, it's not your 'thang.' To me, that says that the knife will just sit in a drawer, unused. Knives were meant for use, give, sell, trade to someone who would use it and get something else you can cut away with.
 
Although you can sell or trade it, because it is your to do as you please, you should just hold another contest for it, and let someone who really wants it, win it. I personally don't like Karambits, so I wouldn't enter the raffle, but I am sure someone out there wants one. If you don't like that idea, can place a fair value on it and put it up for a passaround and raffle. Say $140.00 (or whatever) and 14 people put in $10.00. Then people who want it can pass it around and you will know the winner will want it. You will end up with the money to buy a new BM.
 
It's YOUR knife.

I don't get it when people give other people things and then get mad about what they do with them. If they give it to you.......it's yours to do what you want. If I really liked a knife and "won" it and then 2 months later decided I don't like it anymore......who's right is it to tell me I can't trade/sell it? Nobody's!

Sounds like you have a rather serious moral dilemma on your hands.... should you sell the knife and make a profit on an item that the original owner could have made a profit on? or should you stay true to the intentions of the original owner and give the knife to someone who could use/itwant it?
Seems like your stuck between a rock and a hard place.....


BUT being the good forum brother that I am, Ill allow you to give the knife to me so that I can take on your moral burden. That should relieve the stress that you are obviously experiencing and you would no longer have to worry about this problem :D :cool:




(just joking Boobar :D ) I think (really) its your knife, you did carry it, now that you've used it its not for you. Like Hateman said, its not your "thang" so do with it as you please.

You won it fair and square and now its yours to do with as you like.....trade it for something you might want or sell it for value....and laugh in the face of those who think you should give it away or sell it cheap...don't let them make a "chump" out of you ! Chances are those that want it free or cheap will turn around and sell it or trade it for as much as they can when they tire of it !

Hmmm...If you'll take a $100.00 I'm game,can't PM me but just post if your interested.It's worth more but since you won it (got it for free) you might see any kind of profit as good,know I would.
