Forward curving khuk

This weekend I received the 19" forward curving khuk by Sanu. Believe it or not, it was a religious experience handling that beautiful khuk -- it was so obvious that much loving skill had gone into its creation -- and as I let my fingers explore the details of its construction, I felt in tune with Sanu, the kami behind it.
I agree with Jeff, who said that if you don't own one of these khuks, you should. And, Rusty, you were absolutely right when you said, "If you don't feel the spirit in these forward curving ones, you have no soul."

I don't know what it is about this kind of khuk, but it is very, very special. As Rusty made reference to, they have a spirit all their own.

And these khuks are not just for show. I put mine through its paces working on a pile of oak firewood. It performed beautifully, and had its own special "sweet spot."

All I can say is, Jeff was right -- everyone should have one.

And on a final note, as the spirit of the khukuri spoke to me, I suddenly realized something else -- that it's the spirituality of this forum that sets it apart. That this is one place where I can say these kinds of things, and folks understand.

It is a very strange thing about the 'forward curving' or shoulderless blades...even the very old examples in my collection seem to hold more energy.
Go figure.

Perhaps, I am more used to the geometry of most of my other Khuks. Took awhile to get use to Sanu Forward Curve and to find its "sweet spot" which is further up on the blade. But once found, the Sanu FC works with the best of them.

It is a beautiful khukuri to behold.

As a relative newbie to khukuris I'm wondering what you folks are discussing with a forward curving Sanu? Is there a picture posted somewhere? I can follow many of the topics here, especially when accompanied by a picture <grin>, but I'm lost on this one.

TIA.

Jon, for a picture of the khukuri, check out the thread, "Pala's last bargain . . ."

Pauji my 18th Century is also a forward curving Khuk - I also feel some sort of spiritual experince whenever I hold it! My instinct tell me that this is a very basic spirit in a self of every man - sort of an ancient spirit ... spirit of survivalists! ... spirit of wariors! ... spirit of hunters! ... spirit of fighters! ... spirit of defenders! ... spirit of bladesmiths! ... spirit of steel! It seems something in the self wake up ... alive ... activated!

Don't tell me that I need medication as well!

Thanks all for observations. I happen to agree. There is something ancient and mystical about the 18th Century and the foward curving. Personally, I do not think they work quite as well as the foward angled khukuri but perhaps that is just because I am not capable of proper use.

Our Bando man who is experimenting with the forward curving model tells me he continues to learn from it and that it may become his favorite model.

Feeling the vibes and using the khukuri are to me two different things.

Bill, does Pala prefer a forward curving khukuri or one with an angled spine? I was just wondering.
