Forward curving model?

This is my first post as I have been lurking on this message board for the past couple of months. Last year I saw a photograph of a man holding the most interesting looking knife that looked like a boomerang. I all of a sudden had an urge to own one myself. Then a couple of months ago I was wandering through a flea market in florida and came across one of these knives hanging up at the booth of a cheap knife dealer. I asked him for a price and the guy looked at it and said it had no price tag and he was just watching over the booth for the day so it was not for sale.

When I arrived back home from my trip, I went online to find out something about these knives and where I could buy one. I didn't even have an idea what they were called. I searched around knife websites for a while until I came across the name khukuri written next to a photograph of that boomerang knife that I craved. I did a search through yahoo for khukuri and came across the HI website. That's what brought me here.

Now, getting to the reason why I am finally posting on this message board. I am now an owner of a 16.5" WWII model and I bought a 12" AK as a gift for my father. I love my WWII (but the unsuspecting saplings in my backyarddidn't like it too much) and the 12" AK is a cool little knife that my father just can't stop playing with. I, however, have been struck with an almost unbearable urge to buy another HI khukri. Is Bura's forward curving model able to be ordered yet? Or is it still in development? Plus, is it possible to get special orders such as adding a carved wooden handle, ala the Hanuman special, to this forward curving model if it is for sale? It is a beautiful knife and I'd really like to own one. Also, what is the best thing to put on my khukri to prevent rusting? Mineral oil, wd40, petroleum jelly? Thanks

Hello, Jedd. It's real obvious it's time you started posting. As I tell my wife, I met her on December 7th, the day the Arizona got sunk, and I was sunk that day too, though I didn't realize it at the time.

No question you've come down with a case of HIKV ( Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus ). Even if there was a cure for it, none of us would take it.

I got some bad news for you son, Uncle Bill will try to order you just what you want. That doesn't mean the kamis won't take a look at your specs and decide to improve the.

Anyway, pull up a chair next to the cracker barrell and put your feet up and settle down and feel to home. Enjoy being treated like compny cause it ain't gonna be no time fore they start treatin you like fambly. And God help you, but you belong here. Trust me son, you get some fancy lawyer the judge is still gonna do just what I tell him to. We let you out on supervised visits anyway fairly often.Rusty

Welcome, Jedd. This forum is a great place to be. Of course, every now and then Rusty'll get off his medication and get kinda weird, but he generally gets over it pretty quickly.

Well, I'm glad that I got such a warm welcomebut I wouldn't expect any less from you guys after having read many of your previous posts. Uncle Bill, I am definitely interested in having Bura make me one of his forward curvers. I'll email you with the details.

Jedd
