I was very fortunate to be part of a passaround for the Foster Fears Survival Knife. Here's a photo of it with a Frost's Clipper for a size comparison. It looks like I may have misaligned the knives with the ruler, but it is just an optical illusion due to the height of the handles compared to the ruler and camera position.

The style of the knife is a little unusual, specifically the style of the blade and the way the handle is shaped to form a finger guard that also brings the knuckles up to the midline of the blade. It reminds me of something from another company but I just can't place it. This has been driving me nuts for about a week, any help would be appreciated. I'm really drawn to this design and others that avoid a traditional large metal bolster.
The blade performed well in my tests. I really love 440C, it seems to be the best compromise for my knife needs and this knife reinforced my belief. It should be noted that compared to the Clipper it has a relatively thick blade, as a true survival knife should be. Combined with the G10 handles, this knife could really take a beating if necessary
I liked the thumb grooves and the first 3/4 of the handle up to about the second pin/screw, from there to the butt it didn't fit my hand right. The top edge of the handle has a polished bevel and it gave me a slippery sensation combined with the lack of swell to fill my palm. Maybe if the grip was there on the top bevel I would develop blisters and wish it was polished off... It's very hard to design a knife to suit everyone, so please consider this a "nit pick" and not anything that would prevent me from giving my full recommendation. Longer testing is obviously required, but that was my initial impression that held up during the week I had it.
So besides my "nit pick", this is a great knife: full tang 440C with a functional design and G10 handles that is kept safe with normark's outstanding sheath. WOW - what a package! This will be on my birthday list.
