I had some luck! :D I was in a little local department/hardware store to pick up some plexiglass and decided to check out their knife selection again. A couple weeks ago I found a Buck 110 at this store for $21. This store is actually a Case gold dealer but also has Buck, CRKT, and many Chinese junkies. I had checked for Schrade and even asked about it a few months ago and they said they didn't have any. Today as I was looking through an old Buck display that now seemed to be full of Chinese cheapo's I noticed what appeared to be a 154UH. There were no markings on the side that was viewable but I knew it had to be a 154UH or a rip-off of one. The lady took it out of the case and sure enough it was authentic! They had a red clearance sticker on it---$19.99. I told her "Thank you, I'll take it." and "Do you have any other Schrades?" which she replied "no" :(
I have the box and sheath but no paperwork. When did they stop producing the 154UH's? I am thinking it has been a few years.
Here is the sad part. :( :(
I can't blame this store for selling Chinese junk. Back a few months ago when I talked to the man about the Schrades, I asked him how many cheapies he sold. He told me that they sell the Chinese $3 specials left and right. He even told me he warns people about the quality. He said it's hard for them to move the good stuff, everyone wants cheap. They carry a lot of United stuff also. The Buck I bought is a 2001 model which was brand new. I also noticed they have a Case CV trapper in, I believe, Chestnut bone which I don't think has been made for a while (it's not discounted yet). That gave me an idea of how many they move.

The 154UH Badger drop point first appeared in the 1994 catalog, and last appeared in the 1997 catalog. That is only a four year production run. It is the UH version of the 154OT Old Timer (1976-1988). Congratulations on a neat find! The last MSRP on that knife was$39.95.

I can't believe it had been sitting around that long! The original price was $32.95 so they were at selling it a little below retail originally.

Nice find, I'd like to add one of those to my collection, especially for that price. Don't take your eye off that Case, chestnut bone CV trapper is a nice one and worth waiting for, heck its even a nice knife at retail because it will only go up in value. Probably worth more than retail now.

Score!

I just bought a 154OT on eBay, and paid more than that.

One comment. Schrade called it a Drop Point Hunter, but it's not very 'dropped'.

Are the 154OT production years the same as the UH version?

154OT 1976 - 1988
154UH 1994 - 1997

As you can see, the UH version was a "revival" of the pattern. Such was the case with several of the Schrade fixed blades. While the 15OT had a long initial run (1964-1997), the pattern was revived in stainless with the Staglon Delrin handles for special and private editions right up to 2004. And I must say the Staglon handles add pizazz to almost all of the Schrade Old Timer patterns where used.

PS: Look up a 154G. Really nice with the dark green sawcut delrin handle and fancier rope border brass shield. Tangstamp will be "SCHRADE SKOAL USA" with a "Limited Edition" blade etch. There were some nice SC501 Scrimshaws in this pattern too. My favorite, a gift from a friend, is the whitetail deer scrim. There were also "Guns & Ammo" and Hunting" magazine editions, and of course, the 158OT which is the same pattern with the guthook added.

The blade is not only very "drop pointed" for such a slim blade, the entire blade is dropped. When you draw a straight line through the rivets, every bit of the blade beyond the ricasso drops below the midline.

Codger... A fixed kinda guy :D
