Embedded for you. Nice knife!

What a great find, beautiful handles. A drop of mineral oil on the blades and you're good to go. Congrats

Best regards

Robin

Very nice old stockman.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'd definitely gently clean it up a bit, just a good wipe down with a rag and mineral oil, and use it gently as a tribute to your great grandpa.

Wow! That's what I dream about to discover a treasure like that:thumbup:

Very nice knife---the covers are terrific:)

I also found a keen kutter straight razor with gold sparkle handles, and a keen kutter dual hone to go with it. I wasn't sure if this was the place to post those though.

Nice find. Like others said..I wouldn't spend too much time trying to pretty that one up. It looks to be in great shape...maybe a tiny bit of blade loss on the clip point but still many many years left in that one. I have some of my grandfather's knives and although not worth a lot of money they are treasures.

Thanks! I wiped it down and sharpened her up a little. I've never had a sheepsfoot blade before, but it's already proving to be very useful. I've got the itch to get a single blade sheepsfoot now! I'm thinking an EO barlow :)

Beautiful knife. Post the razors here, but post them over on "straight razor place" too. Those guys only do straight razors, and they'll be able to help a lot.

Very cool. Be sure and hang on to that one. It's worth a small fortune, as far as sentimental value is concerned. My "grail knife" is an older Jim Bowie brand stockman my Granddad gifted me. There's just something memorable about receiving an old knife from family. Don't get too carried away with the cleanup. Try and keep its character.

I'm jealous. The only Cattaraugus I have are kitchen knives (very thin and sharp). I don't think I've ever even seen a Cattaraugus folder. I love the sound of "Cattaraugus" so much I even love to type it. They were an old NY state company in Cattaraugus, by the way.
