Found a center pin crack on my Yellow Case Sodbuster...anything to worry about?

I've had this Yellow Delrin Case CV Sodbuster Jr for probably 5+ years and have yet to use it other than playing around with it opening/closing every once in awhile. Otherwise it sits in one of my knife rolls.

Much to my surprise I noticed the start of a pretty nice crack forming at the center pin. It's probably a good 3/4 of the way through to the liner. I can see one starting at the same place on the other side but it only goes about 0.5 mm from the pin for right now.

Is it common for these to crack in this area? I thought Delrin was pretty impervious to cracking. I'm just a little surprised seeing as I haven't used this knife at all.

I'm contemplating whether or not I should warranty it with Case or just add it to my user rotation and not worry about it.

Lots of knives will crack at the rocker pin like that, but they usually will not move much. Use it!

Shouldn't be a problem. The crack may even turn green from the brass verdigus (sp?) from the brass liners seeping up through the crack. If that happens, it'll add character to the knife.

I've had a slimline trapper for over 40 years with the crack in the same place both sides; it's replacement also developed the same cracks. Don't sweat the small stuff, nor the verdigris either. ROFL

I've not experienced it with my sodbuster jr, but for some strange reason my center pin turned.

Because the pin was ground flush and being right next to a rounded edge, I could feel it.

Had this happen on a CASE Penknife in Yellow D too, also on a couple of RR knives in their yellow Do_O Never noticed it on other synthetics though. Have to admit, it kind of annoys me but at least with synthetics it's not as bad as with bone, cracks in that can lead to fragments dropping out  also more difficult to get superglue into cracked bone (especially smooth...) at least in my incompetent hands:D

I guess I lean in the other way than most here... If it bothers you a ton, send it to Case. When it is all said and done, a crack is a defect. As for me, sodbusters are working tools and as long as the crack will not impede it's purpose in life, I would use her! Modern super glues are miracle workers! Now, if we were talking about a crack in some of my other traditionals that are more eye candy, they might be going in. Very few of those left in my collection though ;)...
