I like going to flea markets and have noticed that I never seem to catch a 110 or 112 being sold. Well, Saturday my luck changed! Down in a bottom glass cabinet, with a bunch of foreign knives, I saw just a little brass poking out of a sheath and the the tag was visible and just said Buck knife $15! I'm pretty much thinking that I would buy any old USA buck at that price so I asked the lady if I could see it and it turned out to be a .112. ranger with no nail nick for $15!
The sheath isn't correct, it's a 110 sized sheath made in Japan, but the knife is pretty interesting.
It has a name engraved on both sides of the blade, and what looks to be solid black magascar ebony scale on one side and a segua scale on the other side. Clearly 2 different scales. The knife is very tight and perfect working condition, as good as any new one.
The tip has never been broken, being the exact same length as my newer Ranger but does appear to have been sharpened a little and one brass bolster shows where it has been used to do some hammering but it doesn't in any way effect its function as it is tight and everything lines up perfectly.
Looks like it was someones edc in the past and has just enough character(battle scars) so it could still be used as an edc instead of just keeping it on the dresser.
Any ideas on the two different scales???? If someone changed this on their own, you could never tell it and they did a nice job because this knife is tight, or is this some kind of old custom since it has a name engraved on both sides of the blade? In any case the 2 differing scales sure make it stand out as a conversation piece.
Now for the bad news, I have a pic of each side of the knife saved to my junk drive and I don't know how to post them to this thread?
