Recently I posted that while I've loved every Spyderco fixed blade, that after trying numerous Spyderco folders I'd never found one that fit my hand plus had a lock that worked well for me both left and right handed and was easy to close one handed.(Except of of course my beloved Harpy G-10, I'm willing to make exceptions for it)

I got some good suggestions from responses but most ignored my dislike for lock backs.

Recently in a trade I got a Goddard Lightweight in perfect condition. It fits my hand and the front style (I believe Al Mar first used this in production knives) lock back works great. This is an excellent knife. I realize that it is out of production but I'll keep an eye out for similar Spyderco folder designs.;)

I have one too. The goddard lwt is a real nice knife. Sent it in for a sharpening and got a brand new one from sypderco.Check the trade forums.

I have that knife up for trade now. If you are intrested email me. After I got the military and got the replacement from syderco, the knife did not see any use at all.

I did not post a direct link to my trade for fear it was against the forums rules. If it is, I am soooo sorry.

I absolutely love the design of the Goddard folders, and was always perplexed as to why those models didn't do much better. Well, to some extent I know the answer: the action on every one of the micarta models I've handled was really jerky and bad.

But I do love the design. It's got such great features: front finger protection, comfortable handle, very versatile blade shape, hole without the hump, thumb ramp.

I've never handled one of the Micarta Goddards. The FRN leightweight is smooth just a little tight which should loosen up with use.

Congratulations Roshi. I knew we could cook something you'd like. Actually, the Goddard was a very successful collaboration going many years. The micarta version came in 3 sizes. The FRN version was used to introduce the reversible clip and ATS-55.

I really like the Goddards also. I've been looking for a medium one in Micarta for years, but I've just been unlucky I guess. I have a baby Goddard and it rocks! I think that it may be time to buy a zytel version. What are the specs again?
Thanks,
Matt
