It is a small slipjoint actually nicely made has a 2" or so main blade, a can opener and a fork and spoon ( a small hobo knife). It doesn't separate however. Black plastic scales. Marked Imperial Ireland on the tang. I can't find any info, on this model, I see that Imperial made BSA knives ; same style minus fork & spoon. Do I have a real deal or a rip off

Thx

Ken

I don't think anyone would bother to rip off an Irish Imperial. ;)

Maybe of interest to you, the Ireland factory was closed a few months before Imperial-Schrade went bankrupt and was dissolved in 2004. So even if not particularly valuable, your knife could reasonably be considered "collectible." Congratulations!

I would tend to agree, why would anybody counterfeit a knife that isn't worth anything anyway? Just put it away and check the prices in a couple of hundred years. That's my plan.

I think that "hobo-style knife" was once packaged by Coghlan's (outdoor equipment) as a camper knife. Could be mid or late 1980's.
There can be no doubt that the quality of these Irish made knives were not unlike "penny knives".
Most had plated finishes which only temporary held back rusting.
There were Barlows as well FYI...

Thanks Folks

Hey Eric, I'll find a neice or nephew to give it to :)

You going after a bruin this fall? We'll go again. My boys got two last year , ( peperettes, sausages and 1 nice head mount ) I was just along for the walk and carried the gear back after they shot them. We stalk 'em and get back in the bush on foot.

I've become a gun porter in my old age

Take care

Ken
