The other day i was using this cleaning stuff to clean metal parts we cut on the wire edm. well its an acid mixed with something else. when steel goes into it it instantly makes the white film. so i though what the heck and dropped in a chunk of Damascus steel. and wow it works great. its called AC 500 acid cleaner and man does it work amazing. it is designed to also remove gunk from steel as it has detergents mixed in with it. I will show you a picture of how well it does.

AC500, a phosphoric acid cleaner, is for sale at GIS. This particular cleaner is utilized in the support of fabrication and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and components throughout most shops. Equipment such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, band saws, grinders, shears, sanders, punches, breaks, benders, grit blasters, and parts cleaners can all benefit from using AC500.

AC500 is used in metal cleaning, both for parts and machinery. It can be used as an anti-foamer in the textile, paper-making, coating, and waste water treatment industries. For use with ultrasonics, metal cleaning, chemical cleaning, and precision cleaning, AC500 already has excellent word-of-mouth throughout the community!

It has a long shelf-life, there is no unpleasant smell, and MSDS is available upon request!

At that price, only if you are getting it for free?
Ferric Chloride is pretty cheap compared to that.

I read up on it earlier myself.

Ferric is the best I know of, but I see nothing wrong with trying something new. I agree though, wish you could buy smaller amounts.....Ferric in that small bottle will last forever.

Show us some results there, JT:D

It might be 49 a gal where I pay 34 per gal for feric. But the ac500 is concentrated and I mixed some up the other day at like 20 to 1 and it works great. It instantly made that white cloud rising to the surface. I was very shocked at how well it works. And also it does not stain your bathroom sink ;)
