Thought I would share with you guys. These are the "beefy" straps that are sold by Bob @ www.broadarrow.net. These are from the original supplier to the military contractor Stocker and Yale. I had one on my Type I conversion Seiko. I wanted to order another, but Bob was out. Well he has them back in stock, and they are improved. The mailman just dropped off my improved 22mm "beefy" strap and let me say it rocks. It has a tighter weave than the original, but is still soft. It also has an extra keeper to hold the extra length of the strap. I like the Rhino bands, but the buckles are bulky and I sometimes don't like the look. This is a great alternative. They are also only $12.50

I plan on ordering several spares.

They are now available in OD. :D

How do the holes hold up on these Dennis? The average Mil strap that I've used on my Marathon holds up really well but the holes fray pretty badly despite the fused edge. I'm like you, I really don't want the extra bulk of the Rhino/NATO style.

Thanks for posting these.

They are holding up well so far. I can't really speak for long term though. I will say that they are an improvement over the previous design. The weave is better and the extra keeper is a real plus.

I think they hold up just fine. I'm the Bob that Dennis is talking about. I've had this series of straps for several years and have not had any problems with fraying. I too prefer it to Rhino straps because they are sleeker, and don't have all the extra hardware.

They are a bit thicker than the regular issue strap that comes with the Marathon watches though.

I would like to know if a beefy rhino band would be a good replacement for the rubber diver's band on my navy seal luninox. I do not like the rubber band, and over a period of time it causes my wrist to break out in a rash. I am probably wearing the band too tight, but I do not like a watch to rotate on my wrist. Please comment and tell me where I can find a good band from a quick shipper. Thank you.

I have used Rhinos on my Luminox original and steel SEAL divers with great success. They are very durable, comfortable, fast drying and a bargain for a long wearing band. The 22 mm width allows for good weight distribution without the feel of being top heavy. They are now available with a single layer with the dual steel keeper in matte black finish. Original dual layer GREY and OD Rhinos are now available. And even a conventional 2 piece setup with traditional buckle is on hand!

I think the beefy military straps sold by Bob at www.broadarrow.net would also be nice on the Luminox. I like the Rhinos, but find the extra hardware a little much. I wear one of the 22mm beefy straps on a Seiko almost every day.

Folk either LOVE the Rhinos or HATE em.
Me? I'm the latter.
Just couldn't get the warm and fuzzy over it :)

The straps above look really nice.
I like the supple nylon for a change of pace and the hot weather.
Seems that all my keeper watches are 20mm.
Bob, Do you have 20mm?
Might have to try one out on the Glycine.
