Hey guys. I found this Ka-Bar while cleaning up some stuff at my dads house. He passed away back in 2009 so I asked my mom about the knife. Apparently it was my dads uncles. He got it from a friend in the Marines. After doing some of my own searching on the web I know its not of ww2 issue. It has what looks like black plastic by pommel and guard. Also there is a hole on one side of the pommel that doesnt go all the way through, another sign of a more recent blade I read if im not mistaken. Over all it is a very nice blade and if I didnt look up what to look for on the web about how to date these I woulda been fooled. It looks like a well preserved older knife.

The sheath looks like it has been worked by someone. Also the serrations on the blade I have never seen anywhere after searching for a few days on the internet. I have seen many with serrations but they were on the bottom of the blade near the guard, not on the top of the blade near the tip. It is well done so I assumed that it was from the factory until I was unable to find any others like it. If someone did it on their own they did a great job it looks like it was perfectly cut out.

Is there any way of tracking down the approximate production date on this baby? Any info would be appreciated and thanx in advance,

Rob

Nice looking old knife... Looks like it's had a hard life. And holy crap those serrations are *nasty*. :D Toooj should be by soon and he can tell you more about when your knife was made.

Yeah I love the look on this. From what ive read its prolly post 1976 but never seen any others with serrations

The knife is pretty awesome, but i bet the person who did the serrations was different than the one who did the sheath ;). It looks like that knife tried to escape that sheath one to many times.

HAHAHHAH.

The sheath is def fugly. On closer inspection it looks like the back piec with the belt loop was ripped off and re-attached with that leather string.
