Went to a gun shop today and noticed they had a BM display with only Grips in it. Upon looking at the prices I decided to purchase a mini-grip for less than what they were before the price increase. I am not a BM fan but wanted to try the axis lock out.

This will be my first and last BM. Blade is not centered, tip is burnt from the sharpening process, grind is uneven, but it is sharp.

I noticed this before I bought it but this will be a beater or I will give it to the wife to put in her purse.

I normally carry Spyderco and ZT and those knives are in another league when it comes to QC and fit n finish.

How can they raise the price and still put out this "stuff"?

My mini grip is perfect. Blade centering maybe off a little but I could care less. Slight machining ridge inside of thumbhole, but I don't care. It's a utility knife. I beat the piss out of it. Love the lock. Smooth operation and most importantly, I like the feel and design. If it had been a gold class, Id be upset. That's just me though. As long as lock up is solid, I'm good to go. As far as the "price hike", I'm yet to notice it. Picked up a 746 today at a local store just because they had 20% off and I've been wanting it since I seen it. Still seeing 65-75 everyday on the bay for minis and full size grips as well. To each his own though. As long as it makes you happy and serves you well, that's what matters. Sorry your first BM didn't live up to expectations. Give it a whirl though for a week or so, who knows, it may grow on ya.

So you went into a store, bought a knife that you could see and handle physically. You noticed these QC issues, and it bothers you, and you still bought it?
Then you complain about it?

Agreed man. BM price dont reflect the quality. The detent on the axis is weak and can easily be flicked open especially if you turn it upside down, and both my grip and my cousins triage developed side to side play after several months. I like it but it defiantly doesnt command the price they ask for it. Im not gonna be buying another BM either.

Not complaining, just stating facts. I will beat the crap out of this knife. Wanted to try the lock and at the price I got it for I couldn't leave without it.

Yea, at their current level of pricing now these are definitely not worth it.

That's quite a list. With those issues I would've left the shopping cart in the store and walked away. Problem is your posting is common and so have the QC issues become. It's hard to expect to find flaws; it wasn't always like this.

Most of us, if we would have looked at the knife in person, would have left it where it was. Did you check to see if any of the others were this way ?
If one of us would have gotten the knife online, and it came like this, it would have been returned....
The problems you listed, are the same as others have reported, numerous times. There is absolutely no reason for these knives to be leaving the factory like this...

I agree, if the knife has that many problems, it isn't worth the new inflated price. Honestly, with that many problems, it isn't worth the old price imo. I don't think one knife is enough to base a decision about the overall quality of the knives either...
But then again, in the past, this would have been such a rarity, but it seems to be getting more common, so maybe one is enough.

A person shouldn't have to play musical knives, returning them, or sending them in for repair or replacement, to try and get a good knife.
This doesn't just pertain to BM, it pertains to all knife companies, or manufacturers of any item for that matter...

If the problem is equipment, fix it, or replace it. If the problem is employees, retrain them, or get rid of them. It should be very simple to figure out where the problem is.

I really want another Mini Grip. Either another custom, which the one I have is almost perfect, or a Ritter.
But, I don't want to pay the inflated prices, or know that when it arrives, I will probably have to send it back, or wait for it to be fixed.. I don't care who's name is on it, I still feel the same way.
