We had a burger cookout last Thursday night in preparation for our deep sea fishing trip early Friday morning. The one thing that nobody remembered to bring was something, ANYthing, to flip the burgers with. One quick trip to the truckbox, and then one of our programmers was flipping burgers with the best of them....

Sunday afternoon I used the heck out of it chopping out a bunch of bushes so that we could dig up a waterline to repair it. Overall, this is a very handy blade to have around.

Yep, sometimes you have to improvise with what you have in order to SURVIVE. Way to think outside the (truck) box!

...I was DEARLY hoping for a pic when I read the first few lines of the post, glad I wasn't disappointed!

It's a lucky break for you guys that it wasn't ruled an illegal spatula. You know how dangerous those kitchen implements are!

It's probably just flare-up from the grease. Either way the meat's well cooked, so whatever he's doing works ;)

I'm glad it didn't have any poison ivy on it......

Hey, we're civilized here, we did wash it! :D

Um, if that's charcoal, he really shouldn't be cooking with the flames like that.

The boys were in a bit of a rush and didn't really level the coals properly, so there was a real hot spot on the grill. When you combine pretty fatty hamburger meat with that much heat, it flares up like Vesuvius! Every few minutes I would have to walk over and put the lid down to throttle the fire back. It was the first time most of them them had ever grilled burgers outdoors (two from India, one Dominican Republic and one Vietnamese I think), but they did fine with a little guidance. The burgers actually turned out nice and juicy with a little sear / crust on them, but not charred like you would think from the flames there.

Maybe Lynn will put a cookout section in one of his videos, cut
off your arm then use the knife for flipping and turning.

Nice improv though.

Hot Steel Proof: tough enough to flip burgers AND survive a trip through the dishwasher. ;)

Dishwasher?!!? You can't put fine quality knives like this in a dishwasher! We washed it by hand with Tide and a garden hose. :D

What I meant was that some people get impatient and start cooking before the flame has burned out and the charcoal has "ashed over" so the meat picks up the flavor of the "flame" or charcoal or lighter fluid or whatever. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the white coals so I guess you're right. It's just that I get a little anal-retentive when it comes to "grilling", but can you blame me?:D
