A couple of weeks ago I had made a comment in the Traditional "What traditional are you carrying today?" thread, Jack Black posted a picture of a Victorinox Mauser, essentially a large SAK Jack Knife with a blade, saw/screwdriver/bottle opener, blade, a corkscrew and awl.

I had commented on how I missed the one I had to sell 15 years ago to pay some bills, this was one of my favorite weed walkin' knives and I really did miss it.

Anyway to make a long story short, I received a pm from one of the members of the community here from the other side of the big pond, (scruffuk) aka Thom offered to send me a similar knife by the same company minus the Mauser moniker, (it was the pattern I loved not the name) any way Thank you Thom the knife arrived today and it was a great surprise for my birthday.

Thom I'm going to pair this knife up with my Husqvarna chainsaw, this is basically a big SAK Jack Knife pattern, the spear blade will be great for cutting stems on the branches, the screwdriver/saw blade for bigger twigs and the screw driver for adjusting the chainsaw blade.

Best part is the bottle opener and corkscrew, they'll be great for opening a cold one,(after I'm done sawing for the day) or the corkscrew for a bottle of wine around the fire pit at the end of a days worth of tree cutting.

Thanks again Thom, the generosity and camaraderie exhibited by the members of this community is bar none the best of any internet forum I've ever been a part of, having been on the giving and receiving end of that generosity shows me that there are good people out there and that restores my faith in the inhabitants of this planet.

Thanks to all you great folks out there, this little part of my world is filled with people I can talk to about not only knives but nearly anything that interests me.

Thom as soon as I get a chance I'll post some pics and the next cold one I tip, I'll open with this knife and toast to your health.

very cool - I have a NATO knife, which is similar in size but only has the spear point, saw/cap lifter, and awl.

Excellent news, those English lads are just great, I am looking forward to meeting Jack so much.

Looking forward to meeting you and Sue, Duncan, won't be long now :)

Glad it arrived OK Ted, Scruff showed me the knife the other week, and it's a nice one isn't it? He even upgraded it with a couple of add-ons. Grand gesture Scruff, very good of you. I'm sure you'll get plenty of use out of it Ted :)

Ted - Pleased to hear this arrived so swiftly.

I like that it is so eager to get to work too. May it serve you well Ted.

p.s. Enjoy that cold one too :)

It's that same knife amigo. The Victorinox Safari Trooper. Sadly a discontinued line now.

Great act, Thom!

Ted, you´ll like that knife. I have Victorinox version of that one. It was the pattern I had during my time the German Army Bundeswehr). But that knife I had to give back to the Army and bought the same pattern a couple of months later and I still have it. :)
