Last summer while doing a construction remodel I found a Schrade Old Timer, marked 770T up in the ceiling. The blades were rusted pretty bad with lots of pitting. Over the time I've had it, when I was really bored, I did clean up on it. Today was one of those days, and I got the blades as clean as I can get them, and with the exception of putting a new edge on the blades, as far as I'm concerned, it's done. Doing some research I noticed there was an older discontinued 770T and a newer current production 770T and am curious as to how to tell if I have the newer model or the older dicontinued model? There are no other markings other than the Old Timer badge and the model number and USA stamped on one of the blades. Also I'd like to know what steel it is. I believe current production is 440C, and the only description I found on the discontinued model was that it is a SS.

Thanks for the help
Davereb

4 The 77OT has been seldom used for special editions but rare pieces have surfaced
5 The 77OT was the predecessor pattern for the 877UH, a guthook version, one blade having a guthook
6 The 77UH was a true 77OT with UH handles, no guthook
7 The 77OT is the same body size as the popular 8OT three blade stockman
