Found a source for beautiful wood

I have never seen a dog that needed beat with a stick unless you are training fighting dogs. If I saw someone beating a dog with a club I would take it away and beat them with it, in which case they would need a beating stick.

Hard to arguee with that statement. :D Ok on the outside chance you did need to defend yourself mostly from dogs guess what, chances are that "Beat-n" stick is considered a weapon were you live. Aint gonna be walking down the street with it and if its in your vehicle and a cop finds it your still screwed. Might want to reconsider it.

Now the wood is very nice:D But that ugly baby pic has got to go :barf: I like dogs a heck of a lot more than kids.

Thanks for the link. I'm always on the lookout for new sources......

Just a reminder guys...please. This is a fairly civil site even though it is filled with people who have strong opinions on everything. Some posts are off topic and fair game for minor bashing. In this case, it was a simple "Looky what I found " post.

Everything is illegal in California and I love dogs but that has nothing to do with the wood.....so once again, let me say the magic word:

Please !

No problem :D I guess we can post whatever we want as long as there is knife realated content it the statement? This was not a simple look what I found. Three was a direct statemnt made about beating mostly dogs, but I guess if it was mostly people that would be ok? So I can say what ever I want about anything and throw a knife realted statement and anyone who responds has the problem...Gee lets bet the answer is ummm NO.

There was a direct and violent statement to this post by Neko2, Trick had his response to the post and I happen to agree with him, and by the way I did coment on the wood too.

And yes most things are illegal in Cali, but carrying a a beat-n stick will get you into trouble just about anywhere even on the lovely east coast. I guess unless its mostly for dogs- kids, old people, cops, military, homeless, foreigners, difernet religions inssert what ever falls outside of mostly is OK. So while Trick is the bigger man for apologizeing I am not. LooK at the original post.

I re-read this thread and see no such statement. I see someone asking about defending themselves against dogs, but not beating them. There is a difference to me.
When I delivered papers I was attacked on more than a few occasions. If I was doing that now, you're damn right I'd carry a stick or something just in case.
Not all dogs are cute loving creatures, just like not all dog owners raise thier dogs to be cute loving creatures.

Thank you Patryn for clarifying my point quite nicely before I had a chance to make it back here to do it myself. I honestly wasn't expecting all the hostility...

I originally did the search in response to this thread and thought I'd share. If you look in that thread you'll notice I was the one saying that I've only ever had to yell at stray dogs to protect myself. Not once did I say I wanted to beat dogs with a club.

I was hoping to maybe make a nice walking stick that would give me something I could also scare off the local strays if a good loud "get" or "bad" or somesuch doesn't do the trick. Also usefull to have just in case.
Plus I've been wanting to try making some chopsticks, knife handles, boxes...

So anyway... That's some nice wood there on that site isn't it? :D

Since it looks like many of you didn't read my first post all that well, I'm posting what I said in the linked discussion thread for further clarification.

I must be lucky.
A really loud "GET" or "STOP" or sometimes "BAD" has always done the trick.
I just make sure to look them in the eyes when I say it.

I'd feel terrible if I had to injure someone's pet.

I'd ty to read what you're responding to a few times through before accusing someone of beating dogs, raising fighting dogs or generally being a bad person based on your inadequate understanding of a single post. I'd have understood a few ??? posts perhaps but the near flaming and judgement was beyond reason if you actually read what I had posted.
I'd considered just keeping my mouth shut and letting it pass but I wont be accused, even mistakenly, of wanting to harm anybodies dog. My dog is a member of the family and I love him. He's my friend and companion.

So in the future please take a few minutes before you post, especially in anger.

In this particular suburbia, I have seen walkers with bo, half staff, and even baseball bats for warding off organisms.

you don't have to beat a dog with a stick. Usually just one swift jab and the dog is done trying to make lunch out of your leg. :D :D :D

I usually have to beat my son with a stick when I come home with a fresh cold six-pack. :grumpy:

Jeff, why does this image jump in my mind.

what the he!! have we had, a full moon the last 2 weeks.. or did everyone's
cat leave them and everyone is a growing a beard? this make about as much sense
(I like knives too)
I had a dog bite me 2 times and I'm not afraid of dogs, two different dogs and they'd only do it when I wasn't looking. if at that time I had my 357 with me I would have shot them or the owners not sure which at the time. I love dogs too, very much so and I hate having to put them down (by the vet) because of brain tumors, done that been there..the last one was with me for 12 years. ( did I mention I like knife also)
I've also seen a dog take part of my little sisters face off when she was about 3 years old. ( long pointed sharp knives are up my alley with wood handles.)
so no... some need to be put down, not by me unless my live or one of mine,
is in danger and I don't need to be in the hospital because a dogs owner can't control his dog. it's not the dogs fault but sometimes the dog has to pay for it, that's life the way it is until it's changed....

hey nice wood...
oh BTW it's only my opinion . nice wood..

Dan,
I would rip a dogs head off with my bare hands and s--t down his throat if he were attacking me or a loved one (and I couldn't control him). I had no idea what he had posted on the other forum, I just saw he wanted a club for dogs. That's all. Had I known what he had posted first I would have suggested hickory, not cursed him. After reading the other thread I am liking him more than the other posters. I was wrong and I apologize.

It's the first time I have been wrong though. :D
Knives are groovy. :)

:D me too but only once
I Thought I was wrong, but I wasn't :D
