Found a way to smooth out the pull on an old queen pocket knife.

Bought this Queen last year. Had a nice snap and pull but it was kind
of a rough pull . Not very smooth. I rinsed it and oiled it right after I
I bought it which made an improvement but still not as smooth as I'd
like. I had an idea today so I used rubbing compound made for cars in
the joint and opened and closed it about 100 times. It made a really nice
improvement after rinsing and oiling again

I have one GEC that must have a sliver of steel in the action. It is a cam tang and I just can't get the piece of whatever out.

Oil, compressed air, soap, water high pressure water pick... nothing.

There is a groove worn in the cam tang at this point.

Only done this once, on a buck 110 copy I found years ago. It was mildly rusted throughout, cleaned up the action and I used it on the blade to get the vast majority of rust off. Knife lived in my toolbag for years, until I lost it.

Think I've got an old tin of rubbing compound somewhere in the cellar, sounds like a new lease of life for it unless it's dried rock hard...there's a GEC that could be a target!

Thanks for the tip

I've successfully smoothed the walk of some knives using the slurry of a belgian blue stone, it probably would work with any other fine grit stone.
