I know that I am not the only person that wanted a tritium vialed watch with an automatic movement. I stumbled across this one:

Precision tritium watch

Seems like a nice alternative. Looks like the case is the same as used by Ollech and Wajs

Dennis,

Nice looking watch, I just wished that Marathon had added the Tritium vials to their Marathon SAR 2002 model, I just love the watch but don't like the Super Luminova.
While when charged with my Surefire E2E with Kl1 head it glows bright enough to read by it loses this within 15 minutes while my Luminox with Tritium vials just continous to be visible night by night.

Any idea if somebody modifies the SAR 2002 to Tritium vials?

Best Scouting wishes,

Bagheera

Notice the small sign for radioactivity on the dial... How much and what kind of radiation comes off such a watch?

Interesting watch--to me, it looks alot like a SS Navigator--minus the movement. Still like, though.

Horrors;) Bottom line up front--wrong time of emitters. See below from an old post from Cougar about tritium--he explained in much more detail than I ever could (fyi--Cougar is responding to the same type question about glowrings--use tritium same as the watch).

Tritium is a beta emitter and does not emit alpha or gamma, and since beta radiation cannot penetrate the glass capsule the tritium is in, such things as Glow Rings and tritium gunsights do not emit any radiation at all (except light).

If you want his detailed version, look here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=226032&highlight=tritium+radioactivity

Off topic: My friend was working at a job site, and found a tritium Exit sign in the trash, he now has it hanging on his wall, i so want it. The funny thing is. It says on the label. Do not abandon or discard this sign.

Funny how the NRC doesn't want radoiactive items ending up in the garbage dump!

I would like to throw in here that some Beta does get past the capsule. At my work I have access to Radiac's, and got bored one day and put my glowring (Thanks Bagheera) up to a beta detector. I would get a click about every 3-4 seconds. Not enough to really measure, but the needle would move, just not very long. I don't know if you guys care at all, just thought I would throw that out there. :)

That's a great watch. I am a fan of tritium.

Looks like yet another gadget for me to acquire.

I read in ?International Watch magazine recently that the old American watch company 'Ball' is being resurected. All watches wil be made in Switzerland I think. Apparently there releasing the 'Engineers model' which I think was going to retail for about $400. Anyway this thing uses a non-radioactive gas developed in Switzerland to illuminate the dials. Its brighter than tritium and has a lifespan of 25 years. If I can find the article I'll post the precise info.
