I found my first Dremel Moto-tool. It is the original Model No. 2 (there was no model No.1). IIRC, my grandfather gave it to me when I was about 8, so it was 20 years old when I got it in 1958. In its day it was the most amazing hand held power tool a person could have.

Click the link I made and open it to see the patent info and the Moto-tool.

That thing is in great shape considering it’s age. Tools were built to last a lifetime back in the day.

Very cool. A prime example of when tools were made to last and whether it functioned properly (or at all) was an actual concern. Now days it's more about who can make it the fastest for the cheapest, and extra points go to how soon it fails after the warranty expires. :D

Yeah - no kidding. I have an old Singer sewing machine .... pushing 100 years old .... and still going strong. Also, a Kitchen Aid stand mixer (good motor, metal gears) I bought in 1984. still going strong. (current ones have plastic gears and break relatively easily)...

Power cord on my new Dremel is like rebar...and it is not even cold now .I will fight with it when it get cold ...maybe i should forge some knife from that thing :D

I still have one of the first Dremels. Set up with a foot rheostat, they are still very useful tools-very small and easy to use.
