Tonight I came across my Shrade Sharpfinger - for the second time. I had originally found it back around '90 on an Air Force C-141. I was picking up some trash and folding up the jump seats when I came across it way back in a rat hole area. Heavy rust on one side, no sheath, tip broke off and had obviously been back there a good long time. A little work and it was back in use.

I pocket carried it during Desert Storm in a makeshift plastic sheath cut from the ever present empty water bottles. I guess I left it in my chem gear and and only found it tonight while searching for some extra 5.56 mags left over from the sandbox ( i wonder how those got there ;) ).

So what type of carbon steel is it?
Has anyone ever made a factory type leather sheath for lefties I can use or am I looking at a custom job?

Whats old is new again I guess :D

I like sharpfingers a lot. Have a few of them. Great story. 1095 Carbon. Glad you're reunited. ;)

I had one of those back in high school and traded it off to a buddy of mine. I always meant to get another one, but figured they'd be making them forever. Now, alas, they are made in China. Makes me want to kick myself. I'd love to have one of the old ones again.

WvHiker, check for one of the old ones on Ebay...you'll find them!

Concho Mike, I think you'd be better served by making your own, or having one made in a pouch-style to carry it. Sharpfingers are great little knives!

That is a good idea. Probably won't have to spend an arm and a leg, though I'm wary of the auction site.

I was like you about a year and a half ago...very leery of eBay. Fast forward to today and it's now my go-to knife site. I've amassed about a dozen kives from eBay that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else
