Hi,

Was out doing a little prospecting yesterday and managed to stumble upon this knife just sitting on the ground in the middle of the bush next to a pile of kangaroo poo. Im pretty stoked. Typed in the markings: Ontario 6-89, and found some info. Pretty interesting knife.

Its very blunt and has a few rust spots on account of it being out in the elements for who knows how long. What do you think I should do with it?

Cheers

Sweet find! I would put a little oil on it, and maybe keep it in your shop or something.
You could even have a sheath made for it.

Clean it up and take it on a hike. That is a tough knife and it will sharpen up well.

At least it was next to the poop and not in it, or that'd be one tough kangaroo.

In any case, those are great knives. I used to carry one on hikes myself, but now use a newer SP25 with Kraton handle instead. I'd say get it sharpened and oiled, track down a sheath (easy enough) and take it out on some new adventures.

Cheers for the replies everyone.

So I guess I will see if I can find someone to sharpen it up for me and then I'll oil it up. I might see about buying a sheath for it too, then I can take it out camping and prospecting.

I'll try to pop up another pic when I get it going...who knows how long that'll take though.

Good stuff.

Well, wear it but be very mindful about having any possible run ins with careless knife missing roo hunters...

Nice find! I have a couple of those that my dad gave me from when he was a pilot in the Navy!
