found at garage sale, no blade, real or repro?

hello all, new here, figuring out how to post pics, bear with me. got a 1918 trench knife handle, (no blade) real or repro?
 
im still having trouble figuring out how to get pic from tablet to here.. how do I accomplish this?

You need to host the image on a site like Photobucket and use the links they provide.
 
its solid brass or bronze for sure, ive heard of knockoffs being made of potmetal covered in brass, its has quite a nice patina, what do you fellas think?
 
also, knockoff 1918s ive seen do not have tool marks on the handle and this one does.
 
Modern reproduction, the squared offness of the handle gives it away. A lot of these are now showing up as bogus theater knives. A real handle from the WWI - WWII time frame will always look like -

now where can I get a blade? now that i know its a fake, i was thinking about chucking a moisin or sks bayonet in a lathe, and making a rat tail tang of sorts for a functional sticker.

Go for it! At least it wasn't the blade that was a reproduction.
 
Just for fun i considered making a Bowie type blade for mine out of a large file since it would already have the basic shape to fit the handle but considering it was about as far as that project got.

If you do it post up some pics for sure!
