I found a PilotSurvival Knife in the Ozarks. I was hunting deep in the woods and came upon it. Looks pretty old but not too old. It looks like the knife #5733 on the Camillus Cuttery Co. web site. Anyone lose one there by any chance?

Nope, wasn't me that lost it. Use the 'search this forum' feature here to learn lots and lots about that great old knife.

After reading alot about knives in these forums, I have found myself wanting to learn more and more. I think I just found my new hobby. I still would love to find the owner of this lost knife no matter how inexpensive it may be. FYI-my name (amibluffn?) is my poker name so dont worry, I aint bluffn anyone here. lol
Hope to meet some new friends here.

Welcome!

You've got a pretty nice knife there regardless of the price. I've carried mine camping for the last several years and it's held up very well. Those knives just about all have to be reprofilled before they'll take much of an edge because the grind behind the cutting edge is so high, but after a little work, they're wonderful hard use knives.

Did you find the sheath too? If not, consider yourself lucky. That knife had what I would consider the WORST sheath design ever. I've been putting off buying one of the neato Spec Ops sheathes for mine.

Yes it was in it's sheath. The sheath isn't that light color one that I see in the pic on the website though. It is in a nice leather one. The stone was in it's pocket too. It looks like it's been out there a loooong time but still in good shape.
True fact of the event that took place in the woods-
I was lost and yea I hate to admit it. No gps(what was I thinking). I knew I had to head out in a Northern way but man I had been walking for hours south earlier. Getting dark I wasn't sure of how far or just what direction to go. When fear sat in(gulp) and I knew it would be dark in only minutes is when I found the knife. Trusted God to have laid that knife in the direction I needed to go. Sure enough!!!!! One hour later walking with a flashlight NNE. I hit the road where my buddies where pulling up to shoot me out. Couple hours later- 18' of snow fell and temps. dropped to a minus 12. O it coulda been a brutal night.

yeesh... good thing you got out when you did, with a nice new toy in the process.

I like going out with my GPS, but sometimes it's a hassle. A lot of times just on short afternoon hikes, I'll have a look at the map and just go by compass. It's more fun that way too. I use the GPS mainly for longer hikes or for finding an exact location that I'm not too sure about.
