A web search found a dealer in NY who is listing the BM Aphid as still in stock. Now to see if the listing is in error and they are not truly available as I went ahead and ordered the silver finish blade version and no stock status error showed up during checkout. Keeping my fingers crossed.:D

I like the aphid. I grabbed 2 of em when they discontinued them. Solid little knives for sure.

The same dealers web site claims to have the full lineup of HD 13100 Hardtail knives in stock. another discontinued item. I suspect due to the fact that he only offers about 15% off MSRP pricing.

This is nothing new. A lot of online retailers often list items that have been long discontinued as "pending availability" or "on backorder". It's an error of laziness or ignorance not wanting to update the site and verify what is and is not available.

The Aphid was in stock and supposedly ships tomorrow, Monday, per a phone call from the shop. Shipment delayed due to the shop owner being on vacation all last week.

I may be lucky but so far my orders for discontinued knives shown as in-stock by web dealers have been successful with one exception.

Mine arrived yesterday. I had to adjust the blade pivot (too loose) and note that the assist is not nearly as positive as on the axis assist design Benchmades. A bit small for my XL size hands. It seems like the smaller Benchmades are models with relatively short lives. If it is under 3" blade size and relatively thin and narrow, what might be called a "Gentlemens Knife", then it will have a relatively short proiduction life it seems like.
