Been looking for a while for a Fox 40 (didn't want to hassle with eBay or online). Finally found one at MC Sports here in Kansas City. $6.00, got the black one that was marked for referees.

Also picked up a pencil sharpener (damn you, Sodoku! Damn you! :D ) Home Depot has some that work on regular or the flat, carpenter style pencils. I was thinking about asking on here if anyone can recommend one. It's a bit larger than I wanted for pocket carry, but it's not too bad. I have one already but it's tied to the work bench downstairs so that I ALWAYS know where it's at.

How much did you pay for the pencil sharpener? I think mine was around $315 a couple of years ago and goes by the name Sebenza. Before that I used a Schrade Old Timer 80T that was inherited from my grandpa.

I've heard that these sharpeners are supposed to excellent. Made by a German company whose name I will not type here in order to keep this thread from going down a road that will get it moved to Whine & Cheese.:D

That site waxes poetic about a pencil sharpener in a way I didn't think possible though. They carry a lot of other sharpeners from the same company, plus replacement blades. I've seen these in art supply stores around here, but I think they were almost 3 times that much.

Shipping is $6 flat on that last site I linked to. Here's one on eBay for $2.55 with shipping.

I do Sudoku from time to time and I like the Pentel mechanicals, either .7 or .9 lead.

Well... those work just fine if ya wanna make a line across a board before you cut it. I'm trying to write, and neatly at that. Plus, not whipping out the blade won't scare the sheeple. I carry a Benchmade, a SAK and SOG pliers, so I could sharpen with a blade anytime; but... If your going to do it, you might as well do it right. I think that should be my motto or something... either that or "I NEED TP FOR MY BUNGHOLE" :D

I think I may look for one of those German sharpeners Paul mentioned. Which will trun into a project as they don't look like they have a place for a keyring to attach to.

Naah, I'm just poking you in the ribs. :D

My grandpa was really good at sharpening pencils with his Old Timer when he was alive--you could hardly tell the difference from a wall-mounted pencil sharpener. I'm almost as good now, but still working to build to his skill level. You can get a much stronger pencil point if you do it right.

You're from Missouri and worried about scaring sheeple??? I drove through your fine state last summer on a cross-country trip. The people in MO struck me as fine folks who would be right at home with things like pocket knives and 2nd Ammendment Rights and so forth.

I'm from Massachusetts, the land of Kerry and Kennedy of all places, and I've never had someone so much as bat an eye here when I opened a pocket knife to do something. I think the key has been the way I present myself, and the fact that the reason for the knife coming out is always obvious--pencil needing sharpening, or box, letter, stupid plastic clamshell packaging needing opening, predator needing covert deanimating (OK, I'm just kidding about the last one, I'm in a good mood). ;)

Have you ever scared people in MO with a lil' old SAK? You live in the heartland of the bowie and toothpick.

You missed your cue. You're supposed to respond to these jokers with "Are you threatening me?" :D

It's all good, no worries! :D

Actually, I live within a stone's throw of KC... There's lot's o' sheeple here. I'd MUCH prefer to carry a Benchmade Butterfly, but that's a sure ticket to trouble with LEO's here. I even stopped carrying my 3 inch Bear butterfly that I added a clip to, because of "legal worries".

Little ol' SAK? :D I carry the Cybertool with all the extra screwdriver bits, in smokey Black, 'natch. And, all the people at work know me as the "knife guy" (well, except the ones that almost passed a brick when the heard what the price of my Surefire A2 was!:D One guy actually asked me if it was more than $20... :p)

But, since I like to carry the right tool for the job, which is why I picked up the Fox 40 too, I thought it'd be cool to get a decent pencil sharpener. Only thing I didn't like is it's kinda bulky. But, thank to this thread, I've got some new options (and, I can retire this one to the tool box). If you're ever through this fine state again, let me know and I'll buy the first round!
