Found Himalayan Imports Sirupati Khukuri

The pictures seem to require a Facebook login, in order to see them...

Very interesting find, from the sound of it. Aptos is relatively close to me.

Yeowww!!! That hurts! You could refurb it with lots of work. Definitely would need to hit the fire and tempered again which means handle would have to be removed. If I found it I would do it since its a classic Sher! Would be more like a Kobra though when done. Looks like the edge is rotted to the core...aka needs a new one.

I'd probably knock off as much loose stuff as I could and build a nice rack and hang it on the wall as is. The handle is toast and doesn't look like there'd be much blade left if you worked it down to an edge again.
Very cool find. Make a great conversation piece for sure.

Surprisingly little corrosion on the brass. The handle doesn't look all that bad to me, though there's no telling what will happen when/as it dries out.

The blade shape already looks rather kobra-ish to me. I'd have identified it as such, except that it's missing the characteristic 2 extra "buttons" on the buttcap.

Definitely would restore (or try) it, though I would have to plead the 5th on the scabbard. Too bad Terry Cisco isn't around, as he made some really super scabbards.

If you do decide to keep and restore it, I'd be very interested in progress reports.

Thanks,
Joe

Sher Kami retired it would be nice to add this one to your collection.

Looks like one of the old "Cobra" khukris.

It probably has at least one body on it, found buried at the beach. Nobody lost that, someone was disposing of evidence.
Interesting viewpoint, and quite possibly a valid explanation. Aptos IS quite close to Santa Cruz, and we all know how weird they can be.

Be kind of neat to be able to track and view all of the HI knives and their owners which have moved through the HI Forum over the years

There'd be about twenty years just for me.

Lot of lives touched by these blades.
