Though it may not be a gem to all, it is indeed to me... heres the scoop:

Im wandering through ACE hardware on my lunch today. and as im scaling the piles of stock and overly small aisles that exemplefy Ace hardware, i stumble upon their knife case and much to my surprise, there sit several brand new Schrade 8OT's. Now, since they bit the dust, i cant find them anywhere. As i examined it it was perfect in all concievable ways. zero gaps between springs and liners, all blades evenly sharpened, no temper burns, no blades hitting eachother when closing, all had good strong closing pressure. man who has this kind of consistent QC for 25 bucks?? Only other choice is United or Frost which are basically complex nail cleaners. as i took the knife to the front desk and purchased it, i think i cried a small tear of sadness at the fall of the mighty schrade... but i got me a flawless 8OT that ill have the rest of my life...thought id share that with others who enjoy good iron ferrite matter separators.

Good Find! The 8OT is one of the models I haven't 'accumulated' yet. All of the OldTimers I ordered on closeout from SMKW were also fit very well with straight blades, strong springs, and good edges.

However, I received a Sharpfinger as a gift that has a very poor grind and blade finish. Must have been the sleepy-eyed night shift's job to make the non-folders...

Best Wishes,
Bob

know what? my sharpfinger is the same way! *shakes head* someone having fun with grinders when noone was looking...
