I was visiting my mother this weekend and she gave me a box of knives that I had collected in my younger years (early 80's). During that time I went to a lot of swap meets and yard sales with my Grandpap and would pick up what ever knife I could find/afford or talk my Grandpap into buying. I don't think there is a whole lot of monetary value in them but they sure do mean a lot sentimentally. It brought back a lot of memories looking through the box...now I need to get to work sorting through them and doing some long overdue maintenance.

I found these 3 lurking in the box..I must have had a thing for camp knives. The bottom (stag-like+9 handle) has Valor Japan on the blade, the other two just say Japan. Interesting all are the same except the Red one is the only one with an actual blade.

If you see one that you would like a closer look at let me know. Thanks for looking.

Hey, that is pretty cool! After 30 years, probably several that you forgot you had. Even if there are no hidden gems, the memories of time with your Grandpap are priceless!

Too funny! I have one of those exact "camp" knives ( middle one) and it is in perfect condition. I still use it when I deploy because I like having a spoon and fork close when I'm eating out of a can, etc. mine still has original cheap leather sheath/holster. I think my Mom bought it at Kmart and gave it to me for Easter one year...1977/78? I thought I was the only person that had one!

It looks like you may have some decent old carbon steel folders in that little box.
That white-ish handled Barlow looks like it could be an imperial or colonial.
And that white handled fixed blade is interesting.

Thanks all for looking...Yeah the memories are worth way more than any $$ value. I don't remember ever using the camp knives. I had a boyscout knife fork and spoon set that I used a lot. I think the fact that they didn't have blades kept them stashed away...i just cant remember why I kept buying them as a kid.

@ Hickory n steel, here is a close up of the two you mentioned. The Barlow is probably my fav...it was my Great Grandpa's and he carved his initial into the side of it. It has a busted small blade and a scale off one side (I believe it was that way when i got it). Maybe someday i'll gets some parts and pieces and try to make it into a good carry knife.

@ CoastieKevinK....is that Coastie as in Coast Gaurd?

Cool find, I am interested to know more about the white handle fixed blade in the picture? Can you make out any tang stamps? The memories spent with him are the most valuable of all.

cbach8tw.... Here is a close up of the tang stamp:

scrteened porch...I remember having a sheath with it that had Niagara Falls painted on it, so Im guessing it was some sort of tourist souvenir. Yours knife still looks in good shape...at some point I broke the tip off of mine. Who knows how or when but Im sure it was doing something fun.

Blade Dude

Here is a pic of the knives (most) in the smaller box. Like i say, none are in very good condition. I have a few that can be cleaned up and serviceable.

OP I have a stash of the same type knives from my childhood . Same experience as you going to flea markets with family or having relatives go up to smoky mouthing knifeworks .

May not be worth much but I wouldn't sell them . I'll pass mine on one day for the stories .

I was gonna tell you that that is an imperial kampking, but you probably read the shield and have already identified the tang stamp as imperial.

That case hawkbill could really use some tlc, but it could be worth something ( more than likely it'll just be a user though )

That CASE Pruner would certainly merit a bit of a clean-up. Very decent knife! Great cache of items and memories, maybe one of them will inspire you to make a new version??

Regards, Will
