My wife was off work today, and since it is my 60th birthday, she took me out to breakfast, then afterwards she asked what I wanted to do today. I suggested we drive over to Crown Point Indiana to check out some of the antique stores, and swing by Cabelas to check for ammo on the way back. In the second store we were in, she pointed to a case and said there was one of those square handle Bucks I like in it. It had the plainest wood on it I ever saw (kind of poor lighting in the store), and a few nicks in the blade, stamped BUCK USA, but for $23 I said I wanted it, so she bought it for me. When we got outside I took it out of the bag to look at it closer and realized it was black micarta. It has the stainless spacer, so I`m not sure what year it was made, but I`m excited about it, been looking for one ever since I saw one that mqqn showed me. I`ll post pictures in the SPS.

Cool!!

I will post a couple of pictures of my Buck folder grail then -

Lucky guy to have a wife that cares enough to buy knives for you. I have one of those early 112's in Micarta also and like it a lot.

Welcome to the 60's over the hill club. I realized I liked it when I started getting discounts. :)

That's the Buck I traded for a slingshot when I was 10 yrs old, in the 50's. Wonder what happened to it :)

Yes, those are handsome and hard to come by. Glad you got a 1972 micarta 112 by accident. Your model will also have no nail nick and the brass spacer came earlier in the same year. Happy Birthday to you two gents (JK & Bad). Thanks for being members on here with such knowledge. DM

Happy Birthday JK. Mine is Sunday and I'd love to be half as lucky as you were.

You'll be 53 if I remember right from last year when you said my son's birthday and yours are the same day....cept you were ten years older than he is.

Yep, that's right. I'll be 53 and my granddaughter will be 10.

Happy Birthday John, Badhammer and granddaughter!

Very cool birthday find, and very cool wife - enjoy both (and all the other stuff that comes with any age)!

Had to edit as I got distracted while typing...

Thanks, but I only wish I had the knowledge of some of the members here. Thanks for the info!

JK, congrats on the find. I'm looking forward to seeing the knife in the SPS. Crown Point In, that's interesting. I use to live up in that area for about 10 years but that's been about 12 years ago.

Your welcome. There was a collector on here who rode horses and carried this same model as it was his favorite. A lot to like about it. DM
