I've had a Renegade for some time (12 or so years) but lost track of it about a year ago. Well, I pulled out my catfish tackle box today to get it ready for a fishing trip this weekend and when I opened it, there lay my Renegade.

I know why I put it there. It makes one heck of a good bait knife so I left it there.

Next time someone tells me; "Hey Ed, fish or cut bait", I'll be able to tell em; "No sweat!!"

Nice suprise - I'm happy for you and that experience. Better than finding money in an old pocket ;)

It's a great thing when an owner and a missin' knife are reunited. :)

Congratulations, now don't misplace it again;)

........They call me 8Ted8 the 8s are silent.........

It is always fun to find something old and counted as lost for good.
Especially when it is so good knife.

You're lucky it isn't a slab of rust.

They should do a run of these... Is the upper clip sharpened?

No, the upper clip isn't sharpened.

If Spyderco brought these out again, I'd buy a couple/three of them. I'd even like to see Spyderco bring it back with a GIN-1 steel blade as this one has. It sharpens nicely and holds it's edge well.

What?????? 1. I don't store my tackle boxes wet and 2. These knives don't rust easily if at all even with heavy use.

Congrats on finding your knife. Its not 1 you could have easily replaced.

Ive got a CRK regular I lost in the house about 6 months ago hopefully it

will turn up too.

As a cronic misplacer of knives I kwow the great feeling that one has being reunited with a misplaced knife. I'm still hoping to come across the Buck 110 I lost in my attic that has blow in insulation.

Thanks for the info, too bad I can't find a single store selling these. I'm kind of bored with the leaf shaped and spear points that are so common on Spydercos. That tip looks very nice and pointy. I'd love to have this or a Wayne Goddard done in PE. Not familiar with Gin-1 since I got into knives less than 2 years ago but VG10, 154CM or S30V would be nice on this knife with VG10 being my preference.

The Renegade has been out of production for at least ten years. They do show up on eBay fairly regularly, and on the Exchange here once in a while. It's an interesting knife. For on thing it, and it's little brother the Blackhawk, were the first Spydercos to have a usable 50/50 choil. For another it was among the few models produced originally in one place (Golden) then another (Japan). Not to mention the marketing angle - both were intended to appeal to the bikers, the Renegade for the guys, the Blackhawk for the gals (so perhaps calling it the Renegade's little sister would be more appropriate).

Thanks Paul, as usual you're a fountain of wealth when in comes to Spydie facts. 10 years is a long time and I doubt Spyderco would ever do another run on these. The hunt is on...

That is a gorgeous blade you got there, but the name "renegade" give me the creeps.
I´m thinking about that crappy series with Lorenzo Lamas, hehe
Be safe.

I have always been a huge fan of the lines and blade shape of the renegade. It truly is classic. great post.
