.... my 484 more and more. I know it is not one of Bucks better built American knives but it just fits and is easy to open and close. Stays just as sharp as the rest of my Bucks (it should!) and just the right blade size and shape for daily tasks. I still hang my classic 112 on my horizontal sheath I made but the 484 is grabbed more often unless I am out in the garage. Should I hang my head for doing so? Will I be banned from talking Buck knives?:)

I too have and (occasionally) carry a 484. I got it on that big auction site for some absurdly low price I can't remember. Light as a feather, stays sharp, good size for my uses, made in the U.S. and it says "Buck." Whats not to like!?

EDIT: I grabbed my "484" from my Cohiba box full of knives this morning and realized it's actually a 482.

Why should you hang your head in shame or be banned from talking about Buck knives?
The 484 is still a Buck knife, no matter where it happens to be made. I have been known to pair my 110 with a 371 and 389.
I've also been known not to carry any Buck knife for weeks at a time.
So far as I know, no one "thinks less" of me for those reasons (alone).
If they do ... well ... why should I care?

Sorry it was meant to be a joke. I have a Chinese Solo that I dearly love next to my chair. Cute little bugger that is a primary letter opener and nail manicure tool. Better half claims I use it for hand surgery too.:D

I fell into the Bantam series and felt the same way, but they are just great. I have a 484 that's gonna get more love now.

I got my daughter some shirts from the website a couple weeks ago and picked up the small Bantam cause it was only $12. I liked that little thing so much I ordered two more just to have them around.

Never had a 484, but everyday for years I carried a 482 and absolutely loved it.
It was the first quality American made modern folder I ever bought and with it the search was over.
It ended my search so soon that I'm sure it's partly responsible for my switching to traditionals.

I no longer carry it, but it isn't going anywhere because I dremeled my initials into the handle.
I'd probably miss it if I did even though I no longer carry it, but had I not marked it I would have passed it along to a friend or something.

They are a great knife and they look better than the bantam series if you ask me, it's a shame they don't still make them.

I have the 284, 285 and 286. Great knives also. Well I had the 286. Friend liked it a lot so I gave it to him. 285 was claimed by the better half. She keeps it in her purse and uses the hell out of it. Probably needs a touch up with all the Amazon boxes she has cut open:D

I personally think the 482,484 are great Bucks! Light and a easy carry. If I can find my 482 I'm going to rob the blade to put in a TA-112 that will be on it's way soon. Don't overlook the 450 as the rubber(?) handle is perfect in any kind of wet conditions. I've bought several dozen 285's and 286's in the last few years for Christmas and Band Bucks..

I think the profile of the 48x series is the best, wish they had used it's profile to do the new slim series.

I used to carry the 484 on the boat as i wasnt to concerned if it went in, now i carry the 486 a lot, have a 482 but for the size I'd rather have the 486.
I sandedthe thumb ramp off and like it much better.
